I have started one and if Terbites wanna follow my progress I will post updates

I started 4 days ago

I bought some keto sticks that tell you if you are burning ketones which is the whole idea

To day they started turning red which tells me diet is working as it takes 4 days to start so time to do daily weigh ins

All I do is count net carbs IE total carbs - fibre. I want to keep net carbs down to 20 gm per day.
althought to start so low may result in "keto flu" but I have not experienced it so all is good.

So, I am off and running

I feel good about this because OHIP will pay you to see a keto MD but it all seems so easy I will try it on my own

It is easy as you can get all the info you want about what foods have carbs on the net

So far, for food I have fried a lot of spinach , that removes the water and makes it wilt, combined with fried mushrooms

with chicken and mozzarella cheese

I have bought red fish and they go well with asparagus

I have baby greens and tuna sald with olive oil dressing

I also have red meats and carb friendly nuts .

I bought a bourbon chicken and sprouts and brocolli dish from the oriental kitchen at the mall.
I passed on the noodles

When I get tired of that food the net has keto recipes

You never go hungry as you can eat as needed but that does not mean you eat all you want.
Just eat enough so you are not hungry as excess protein will be stored as fat

Cheers

I did keto for 5 years. I lost and kept off 30 lbs of fat but had to sacrifice eating yummy foods, like deserts, ice cream, sugar. Nowadays, I just eat a normal, balanced diet, but count calories instead and ensure I don't eat too much.

It's a challenging diet for most but has great rewards. Best of luck on your journey to better health.

Challenging in what sense? As I never went in for sweets and the diet can be so varied and you never go hungry why is it challenging?

Excuse my naivety as I just started

Keto bombs. Quick and easy source of fat and protein. Melt down some coconut oil add a low carb protein mix and pour into some silicone forms or muffin tin liners. Transfer to freezer to harden. Leave in fridge to keep solid.

Avocados great source of fat but do have some carbs.

5 years?

The keto diet is unhealthy so you are not supposed to be on it that long

A few months is supposed to be OK as you do get a lot of vitamins and minerals from all the leafy greens you can eat

I read you can lose 3 pounds per week but I suspect the more you have to lose the faster it comes off

I want to lose 20 so that means 7 weeks or so

If it starts coming off the scale will be a great motivator

Just looked it up

one avacado has 17 gm carbs minus 13.3 gms fibre as you want no more than 20 net carbs a day it is keto friendly

You can buy guacamole or mash it yourself

One way is to fill half an avocado with one egg (.5 gm carb) and bake for 15–20 at 425℉ (220℃) until the egg has fully set.

Top the avocado with crumbled, cooked bacon and season it with fresh herbs and spices like parsley, cayenne pepper, salt, and regular pepper. (all 0 carbs)

So that is 17 gm carbs minus 13.3 gms fibre divided by two as this is half an avocado add .5 gm so total is 2.35 gm carbs or 2.85 is you used two eggs

Why do they not serve this at egg smart restaurant?

Furthermore, you can replace the eggs with other ingredients, such as tuna at 0 carbs, chicken at 0 carbs and carb friendly veggies

A simple online search will give you plenty of stuffed avocado recipes to choose from.

EatIng keto eventually becomes a drag. Benn doing it since March 16 and really miss the variety of food choices.

Red swan has a cauliflower crust pizza. Small 3 topping $25. It is quite good.

You can make your own pizza crust. Google fathead keto pizza crust. It's a pizza crust made out of cheese. It was good but I'd rather get the red swan.

For pop I drink stevia. Not as good as regular shit but it's made with stevia and has zero carbs.

Keto is not an unhealthy diet. But it is not very well balanced, obviously, missing many healthy fruits and vegetables. I had a physical exam every year and the results of my blood tests were unremarkable (normal). There are many people who have been doing keto longer than me. It can be done long term.

Rate of fat loss will depend on your size and how much fat you have. For most people, losing 1 lbs of fat a week is possible and reasonable. Trying to lose at a faster rate may result in muscle loss, even if you lift heavy weights. Losing fat without any kind of strength training will definitely result in muscle loss.

The keto diet is not a magical diet. You will still need to count calories or you will gain weight. One of the best things about it is the abstinence from processed foods, sugar and refined carbs. However, you can do that on a regular diet.

If you are only going to do it for a few months, I guarantee 100% that you will put back all the fat you lost, unless you develop discipline in your diet and change your eating habits permanently.

Just that most people have a hard time saying no to things that are a staple in their diet like rice pasta and bread. If you have good self discipline it won't be a problem but most people don't. It's a great way to lose body fat in a safe and healthy way and also has other health benefits.

The keto diet seems hard to follow, and also expensive as well. It's cheaper to buy rice and pasta, then it is to buy steak and fish!!

This is the reason I dont do keto because eating fat quickly adds up calories and the portion sizes are too low for me which leaves me hungry all day..
That's not quite true as well. There is good keto and bad keto. Also there is no craving on keto. Sometimes I am barely hungry. Your body feeds itself of the unlimited amount of fat in your body and your addiction to sugar is gone. It's when I start feeling hungry between my meals that I know I have ate too much carbs and I will get kicked out if I eat more carbs.

No matter the diet you still have to change your relationship with food. There is a huge psychology behind "being always hungry". There is a reason we need a diet today and I had to find it so it finally works and you don't have to do it all the time.

Not quite true. 5% carbs, 15%- 20% max protein and 75% fat. Eating too much protein will reduce your ketone production.
I tend to have higher protein levels and shoot for a gram a pound. Haven't noticed any reduction but then again I don't track key tone levels nor do I track my intake percentages. I used to track through an app but once you get into the eating habit it becomes rather easy.

Cravings... Lol.. when I see something I can't have my stomach or mind says otherwise.

Keto definitely maintains and stabilizes glucose level so you don't get the spikes and cravings.
