They used to say "Go West young man". Now they're saying "Get the hell outta Dodge"
Maybe you should watch the video in its entirety before you comment.Hillarious. There is probably a very good chance that that building is going to be torn down and turned into condos. Or, it could be one of the several office towers in LA, New York, Dallas, Toronto, Vancouver, Chicago etc., that have a lot of vacancies because of hybrid work situations. And....it isn't surprising that they are tagged. Nobody is maintaining shit. Remember during the early months of the pandemic (or shortly after) everyone said New York was dying. Has that happened? As Mark Twain would say, reports of the death of theses cities is likely greatly over exaggerated by those who want to paint Gavin Newsome in a bad light.
Now, I haven't watched the video, just the first few seconds. There are many cities that have storefronts like this. Is it an indication of economic issues? Sure, it can be. Or, it can be a step in the cycle of renewal. CA is a popular place to live. There are a lot who say they've left for places like Texas. However....there are also a lot who are moving back because...well...it's Texas...
LoL....I'm just gonna sit on my chair and eat popcorn on this....because the worse it will get, the powers that be will look even more stupid....if they don't fix this now...Hillarious. Dude Oklahoma City isn't even included in that video. These are all small towns that have been mostly abandoned due to the trend to urbanization the past few decades.Oklahoma city, one of the most conservative places
In the US. The result of right wing elitism
The thing with theses videos is that they likely cherry pick what they show, and blame it on things that may or not be relevant. What is this gentleman's great thesis on why there is vacant retail space in that areas? Is he blaming it on crime or the unhoused? Is it because of the debunked shoplifting surge? I mean, some of those could be legit. Or, it could be the building is planning on a refurbishment/renovation and the work hasn't started yet. Or, as I mentioned, maybe they cannot get tenants because companies have downsized their office space needs due to an increase in hybrid work. And commercial real estate is an odd one in the sense that they can have vacancies for a long period of time, then suddenly the property becomes attractive and they become fully leased. It isn't like a vacant house or rental unit.Maybe you should watch the video in its entirety before you comment.

debunked by who ? You ?Is it because of the debunked shoplifting surge?
do you know of many physical street facing retail stores where the retail staff work remotely?as I mentioned, maybe they cannot get tenants because companies have downsized their office space needs due to an increase in hybrid work.
Look, I will put it this way.Look, I will put it this way. The vast majority of theses videos (both from the left and right) cherry pick their viz and supposed facts to make their point or disprove another's. I see this mostly from the right, but that could be because the only place I see this shit is here, and the righties are using it. I don't actively look for it, and usually ignore it for the above reasons.
Debunked by the National Retail Federation, which said that organized shoplifting was actually only about 5% of the problem. If you recall, Walgreens or CVS and some other retailers were lying about how much organized theft hurt them a few years ago. Now, they admit they grossly exaggerated the actual damage.debunked by who ? You ?
do you know of many physical street facing retail stores where the retail staff work remotely?
Look, I will put it this way.
you do not have a clue and are desperate to defend the loonie left policies that are not working
Stores are going extinct due to Amazon and online stores as the eventual end state capitalism.debunked by who ? You ?

Absolutely.Stores are going extinct due to Amazon and online stores as the eventual end state capitalism.
Its turning into a giant game of monopoly and you're cheering for more.
I personally couldn't wait for this change to occur sooner where office spaces are done away with and everyone works from home. It is absolutely the best. All companies are reducing or even eliminating their office space.
Even if that will hurt me financially a lot I do agree.I personally couldn't wait for this change to occur sooner where office spaces are done away with and everyone works from home. It is absolutely the best.

Here's the thing about loonie left bullshit: They will say anything and not give a rats ass how bad it smellsHere's the thing about retail: If you have a business that is reliant on customers who work in the office above you....and then suddenly, they are no longer as many of them, that will, shockingly, impact your bottomline. Heck, it could cause your shop to close. I know the PATH downtown say many stores close in 2021. A lot of businesses have returned. But retail and commercial real estate can be cyclical.
LOL. As I was showing, the instances of organized shoplifting are very small. The sad reality here is that the retail trade organizations were saying it was a much bigger issue. However, the stats also show that shop lifting has not really increased, despite some high profile or visible instances. The overall figures on theft would come from retailers. They would have a good idea how much merchandise was stolen every year. Police stats are faulty, because they might only go for reported theft or with arrests. So, the reality here is, the figures are likely accurate and not "20X bigger..."organized ?
shoplifters have a union?
shop lifters generally work as independents
since your shoplifters local 105 only represent 5% of the problem, the actual problem is 20 X bigger than you are pretending
large chains do not shut down profitable stores
and they certainly do not shut down profitable stores to try and make the left look foolish.
you guys have that covered already
Called out? How? You haven't exactly given a compelling argument to counter anything. What is your take on the vacancies? I don't recall you offering one except to say I'm wrong. Now, I will admit, I could be. I am not down on the scene there. There could be a whole host of factors. Maybe the building is vacant because they want to knock it down and put in a condo or bigger tower. It could be the location doesn't have a lot of curb appeal or street traffic. There are so many factors and that video provided little to no context. Just like you. Here's the thing about loonie left bullshit: They will say anything and not give a rats ass how bad it smells
you were blithering on about work from home which does not apply to street level retail , you got called on it and are now spewing more bullshit
try some mints to get rid of the bovine fecal odor emanating from your piehole

But pretending you don't understand that is on brand. So, congrats for consistency.
But since it sort of nulls the right-wing rhetoric that it is increasing due to things like bail reform or what not, you ignore it.

I agree. But why is the store unprofitable? Neither of us have that answer. It could be the retailer went out of business, the lease was too expensive so they didn't renew, the parent company was closing stores. There are so many different reasons, and your knee jerk reaction is to say it had something to do with supposed left-wing policies. Without facts. Quelle surprise.retailers do not shut down profitable stores

again retailers do not shut down profitable stores"This is the worst that I've ever seen." Earlier this year, OPSEU — the union that represents liquor store employees — told CBC Toronto the LCBO lost about $77 million due to theft in 2018. LCBO staff are trained not to intervene when a thief takes off with products
