They can be both. Israel practices terrorism against the Palestinians. So does Hamas. What makes you think your argument has any legs when you support terrorism yourself?

Yes and Israel as a state practices terrorism via policy, military action and law enforcement. There is also the fact that the settlers who are citizens engage in terrorism against Palestinians and have killed 1200 in 2023 alone. Then there is the small fact that Israel's Minister of National Security, is a CONVICTED terrorist, in ISRAEL. So yes, Israel practices terrorism against Palestinians and by supporting Israel you are supporting terrorism.
IMHO the hostages should have no part in their plans. Hostages should simply be written off as victims of bad luck just like palestinian civilians, and IDF should go ahead full force and cause as much harm to hamas as they can. But I am not in charge of those things...
