The official line is
He paid off his interpreters gambling debt...hmmmm
Let's see how this plays out!
Hasn't he now denied that and stated that the interpreter stole the $$$?

I guess it depends on who you talk to..LOL
Wonder why all these journalists were snooping around his finances in the first place?
Makes you wonder ...

They weren't. The feds were investigating the bookies and discovered what was happening.

Maybe Ohtani will 'retire' from Baseball for a year and a half, so he can pursue his life-long dream to play professional Basketball? There is a precedent, for something similar to that.
He needs to have a line of shoes named for him first.

There isn't a bookie in the world that is going to float 7 digits of credit to an interpreter on a low 6 digit salary.

Its a total cover up.
My guess is it was some kind of slush fund and the interpreter did this over months or years. It wasn't like guy made a 4.5 million bet in day.

The Ohtani machine and brand is worth billions to MLB and corporate endorsement with a lot of people necessarily have to keep it going. The icon and idol endorsements in Japan are worth hundreds of millions as well. The Dodgers are in for a major headache as the FBI probe continues. The interpreter was merely sacrificed and paid off as the fall guy and will probably disappear back to Japan. A dark cloud hangs over Ohtani now.

The money was being wired from one of Ohtani's accounts. The bookie knows where the money was coming from so he probably didn't give a fuck that it was interpreter making the bets.
Maybe this was a way to get a hook into Ohtani..let the interpreter keep getting deeper and deeper and then spring the ol' you can wipe the slate clean if you can fudge a game or 2 or 10??
I smell another Movie in the making..LOL

Its going to be very interesting what MLB does if he was the bettor.

Pete Rose is the precedent.

My understanding with Rose is that there was clear evidence he bet on his own team and baseball in general. I think he's even admitted to betting, which he knew he wasn't allowed to do.

Which is why he didn't win the best actor Oscar this year, according to conspiricy theorists.
Good one. Made me laugh. There must be a lot of Reds fans in the Academy.

Actually, the Holdovers was my favourite movie of the year.
