Joker is the most complete tennis player ever, he exemplifies the Joe Montana credo of taking what the opposition gives you. However his diet may be working against him, it's to astringent, it wouldn't hurt him to eat some roast chicken every so often.

The AO is Igaaa's Achilles Heel, it could be that she chooses to live in Warsaw instead of some balmy tax haven in the off season. She's back in business at Indian Wells. I'm expecting Marta Kostyuk to move up in the rankings, she's brings glamour to female tennis, not seen since Maria Sharapova retired.

Joker is the most complete tennis player ever,
With all due respect, I gotta disagree. He is one-dimensional. He always plays defensively and gets to everything.

He does not have an overpowering serve. He never serves and volleys. He only comes to the net when drawn in and is no more than adequate up there. He does not have any overpowering ground strokes.

He just waits until his opponent hits a short ball, or is out of position or makes some other type of tactical error. Clearly he plays his style brilliantly and is in phenomenal condition with amazing flexibility. But basically he is like a backboard where everything comes back and he wears his opponents down. He rarely is the aggressor on a point until there's an opening or his opponent loses a point on an error.

Laver had a complete game with serve and volley, very good serve (especially for a small man) and he could put away powerful ground strokes from either wing. Borg developed a complete game. He started off even more defensive than Djok and dominated the French. But he had to totally overhaul his game to win his Wimbledons. He improved his serve. He learned how to get to the net. The grass was much slicker and faster than it is now. You could not win Wimbledon with defense only. You had to force the issue and gain a territorial advantage. Even Lendl could play different styles and had a more complete game than Djok.

I suspect you are too young to have seen those guys play. You may have a different opinion if you had.

24 Majors belie Joker's greatness. I don't disagree with what you are saying, like I said before Joker plays tennis like Joe Montana played football. Ever see Joe throw a hail Mary pass, I didn't. Roger Craig revolutionized the running back position by becoming Joe's go to man for short passes. Joker may not be spectacular but no one anticipates his opponent better than him...24 Majors don't lie. Age may be catching up to him, at the AO he couldn't handle Sinner's service game.

Rod Laver is before my time, almost Bjorn Borg as well. I got into tennis after watching the legendary Wimbledon Final of 1980:

If you consider the number of titles and age of retirement it`s hard to argue that Steffy Graff was the most complete tennis player ever. She won 22 and retired at 30!

Steffi Graff benefited from the attack on Monica Seles.

I wish Ashleigh Barty would come out of retirement. Igaaa is only 22, she's only going to get better.

Thanks for the clip. Awesome. Sign of the times, it looked like Borg's team and Mac's team both shared the same box. I recognized Mac's father in the back row and Borg's coach Lennart something in the front row. It makes me wonder if that is Patrick Mac sitting beside the blonde girl. It's like in the old NHL, both teams shared the same penalty box.

I only saw Laver play towards the end of his career but one of those times was live in Toronto at the Canadian Open. I think it was at the Toronto Lawn Tennis club. The courts were clay, though. Before moving up to York U permanently, they alternated it between the Lawn and the Cricket Club on Wilson. We could buy a 5 dollar ticket and stay for 10 hours or whatever. No morning and evening sessions.

I still think Laver is the GOAT, but Borg is still my all-time fave. We're similar in age and with his long hair and unflappable demeanor he was the most popular player in the world. He was THE Joe Cool of tennis and is still the Joe Coolest. LOL. His facial expression never changed, he never looked frustrated or pumped. He never even seemed to ever breathe hard. The Iceman, indeed.

Thanks again.

I am a huge Iga fan. I love everything about her. She's absolutely beautiful inside out. But something tells me Iga will make an early exit from tennis.

In what possible state of mind will Sabalenka show up to tennis court tomorrow? Following the suicide of her 3 year bf... It must be so hard.

She will be facing her best friend Bedosa. Such friendship is quite rare among star players. They have spent most of their time since yesterday together.

Being Sabalenka would you show up to play right now?

Alcaraz and Sinner are also close friends.

Imho it would be therapeutic for Aryna Sabalenka to play the match, sitting in her hotel room and stewing over the loss would be worse. After the match if she decides to withdraw, she'll have the WTA's blessing. The worst part, as I've just found out, Konstantin Koltsov was in Miami with her.

Now they are reporting that it was a blood clot that went into his heart.

That's Russian media, right? I guess you can develop a blood clot indeed when you jump from a balcony...

When I was 22 a good friend of mine, who happened to be a tennis coach and great player, ditched his car in a wall. He had dropped me at my place about 20 minutes before. His last word to me were "these voices are killing me..."

Mr. Figaro, our resident teenager, has nothing but hatred for Igaaa. When an opponent beats her, he praises them to the skies, although Alexandrova is a better player than Noskova. I wonder how long the posting run will go on for Alexandrova. She played a strong game and her service game was freakish, losses happen. Figaro is too young to develop perception yet, he can't see that Igaaa is being trolled. He takes it at face value and hates her because of it.

In other news Naomi Osaka is dealing with hard luck. Mr. Figaro if you impregnate, NEVER abandon your child.
