Pay very close attention before you post your answer

Its not #6. The pipe at the end is closed, so water would just rise up again

All the pipes are blocked, the overflow will go to 3 first.
The overflow will glide on top of pipe 3. But depending on the force of the liquid pouring it will glide on 2 if pouring is slow or 1 if fast.

I read 99% of people get it wrong on their first try

As Jalimon depends on volume and momentum/gravity, and terminal velocity.

If a slow drip 2 and if more volume 3. The water will go as far down as the 90 above 4 then fill up and flow to the right.

Simply turn on a tap. Does it go straight down when a drip. or out at 45 degree. Kinda depends

Correct. If the pouring is as fast as my Aunt Betty pours herself tea most of the overflow will go to cup 1, some on the table between cup 1 and 2, and a bit in cup 2.

But as I know my Aunt Betty she would find it annoying to pour her tea in those useless pipes so she would bypass and pour directly into cup 1 😷

(I say #7. The overflow will run along the top of the pipe that leads to 7 and then straight down the left side of that same pipe into the cup. If you look closely the pipe is not centred over that cup. It is skewed slightly to the right, meaning it leaves more room on the left side, which is the same side the fluid will be flowing down.)

OK. I just changed my mind. It is #2. As the fluid backs up, the opening on the right side of the main pipe will receive overflow before the opening on the left side.

2 is my final answer but as was already mentioned the flow rate is a vital factor. If the flow rate was very fast the water could overshoot cup 2 which then brings #7 back into play.

But without the flow rate it is impossible to say definitively which it is.

Cup 3. There's no drip edge on the bend of tube 3, and the vertical tube won't have enough pressure to make it do more than run down the top of tube 3.

Not sure if there would be enough pressure coming out of the gap for 1. There might also be case for 7 if the volume coming out of the can is like your Auntie. She will miss the well with some going to 7, and what goes in so fast and heavy will get to the top faster than the gap allows it out to the right :)
