He was an expendable piece so there was no point in keeping him. At the time we were desperate for bull pen help and we got Trevor Richards back for him who pitched quite well for the rest of the year. We were never going to get a big return on him.
Bowden Francis came with Trevor Richards in the 2021 trade.

Rowdy Tellez is, quite possibly, the greatest Mexican-American Jew who's ever played in the Majors.

I'm reminded of when Walt Williams played for the Raptors in their second season. No-nothing fans thought he was a star, with 16+ points per game. People who knew Basketball would say 'the team must be shit, if Walt Williams is on the floor often enough to score 16 plus per game'. Walt wasn't exactly renowned for being able to effectively guard anybody.

Bellinger is a former Gold Glove winner, (2019), and he's a top-tier defender at both center field and first base.
So where would you play him then. We have Vladdy at first and Kiermaier in center plus Springer in right. That's what i meant by having multiple DHs. Why resign Keirmaier if Bellinger is on their radar. They would have a crowded outfield.

Springer is absolutely not a DH. He may not be the elite centre fielder he used to be, but he still a very solid right fielder. Your making it sound like he can't catch a ball out there when it couldn't be further then the truth. The only reason they moved out of centre was to keep healthy and the fact they signed the best defensive centre fielder in baseball because they wanted to reduce runs against.
He does play some games at DH. So does Vladdy and I'm sure Turner will too. If they did sign Bellinger then how would they keep all of those bats in the line up and gloves on the filed.

Okay, so they each play DH once in a while, but do you really think if they signed Bellinger him or Springer would be a full time DH???

No but the outfield would be crowded and one of them most likely Springer would be the ideal candidate to play DH. Now what happens if Turner or Vladdy play DH. No way is Turner an everyday 3rd baseman Signing Bellinger now doesn't make much sense now that Keirmaier is coming back and Vladdy and Bo are gonna get paid soon.

Agree, The Jays will not pursue Bellinger (if they ever did) at this point. The Spring Training lineup is set for The Jays lineup as it stands will be close, if not identical, to the Opening Day lineup.

In 2024, The Jays have bet on having some of the underperforming players returning to their mean to win in 2024.

Turner is a DH hitting in the clean-up slot. My thoughts are The Jays are looking to IKF to cover 3rd Base and his return to his average will cover losing Chapman on the offense side.

Bellinger is not coming to the Jays because of DH concerns or a crowded outfield, he's not coming because the asking price to high for the Jays.

My guess is that KK would be the odd man out since he's only a 10 million dollar player. The reality is between guys getting hurt needing rest and DHing once in a while, even KK being the odd man out would get enough playing time. It would Varsho and KK battling for a spot as Varsho isn't proven yet. I also suspect it's possible that Bellinger is capable of playing 3rd since he can play first. Your original statement was that Springer and Bellinger would be two DH's which is completely inaccurate. Those two guys are star postional players, the club would have to make it work.

All the while not having any of the other players regress from last year, including the starting rotation. How realistic is that?

They were extremely lucky health wise last year, I can't see them getting this lucky again. They have a little more depth in the starting pitching this year so that might help a bit, but it's basically the same team with the hope some prospects blossom this year.

I am surprised he is still not signed. Surely by now somebody would be taking a chance. I have always been a fan of Bellinger. He accomplished so much at such a young age.

This may be more about Boras than the players. The owners may be playing chicken with him. He's got 4 guys who, at some point, will be getting pretty antsy. They might start putting pressure on him. I know they want the money but I think for some of them, they miss being on the field.

He has a player option after the first and second seasons. If he has great season this year i'd be surprised if he doesn't exercise that option.

The Jays should try the same with Matt Chapman. I don't trust our options at 3rd base

Why couldn’t the Blue Jays do this type of deal for Cody Bellinger instead of signing Kevin Kiermaier for the one year? Is Atkins really that bad?

A lot of players don't want to play in Toronto.

Much of that has to do with the fact that the Rogers Center has artificial turf. Few quality free agents are ever more than a year or two under age 30, and playing on artificial turf most of the time shortens the portion of their remaining career where they can command annual salaries above the Major League average. The big names won't sign here unless the team, as constructed, is a serious championship contender.

Players will sign for less money, if they have a legitimate chance of winning a championship ring; this is especially true in the NBA, where veterans near the end of their career will frequently accept salaries near the Veterans minimum to play for a contender already spending max cap.

Then they had to have a discussion between them meaning Cody Bellinger and his girlfriend… she needs to stop posting teaser photos of the CN Tower. Lol

…..seriously I would much rather have seen Cody instead of Kevin….
