Henein can't represent any of the players. She did the Hockey Canada investigation and forwarded findings to London Police, thus it would be a conflict of interest to represent any of the players.

Also to note is that some players will be called as witnesses. I expect there will be text messages that haven't been released that were sent before everything happened that will come out at trial.

I'm sure that players have identified who was who and who did what, the victim wouldn't know their names except maybe the original guy...so you're probably right that they'll be called as witnesses.

(Where I come from (rural Quebec), the story is done once you accept $3mm. She should have turned the money down and then gone to police. There's some lack of integrity on her part to take the money and then still go to police.)

The players should hire defense lawyer Marie Henein. BTW: She looks good for 58.

The woman went to the police the day after it happened and than after their original investigation they said no charges would be laid, it was done after the payment but then the police came back to her and reopened...you are brutal to say the victim lacked integrity after what the players did and the way Hockey Canada tried to cover it up...

The fact that she went to the cops the next day suggests that she's a genuine victim. What girl would expose herself to the sort of treatment she's going to get from the lawyers for those rich kids and from hockey bros if it hadn't happened?

Yeah, I didn't follow this case as closely as some members here.

I was under the impression that she asked for the money and then went to the police after she got the money. This case has so many twists and turns.

I'm not as vested in this case as others. This is my understanding. Two possible scenarios.

1) She went to the cops and still got the money and/or
2) She got the money and still went to the cops.

Bottom line: She got the money in either scenario.

Or the cops told her "With the higher level of proof required in criminal court we won't pursue, but contact a civil attorney and he may help".
