Bitter reality bites, it's time for Rafa to retire. He needs hip replacement surgery which would end his career, his days of being Rafa Nadaaaaaaal are over.
What was Rafa up to? If you're going to play a practice match, you don't do it against a potential AO Champion. Ben Shelton is the best American prospect since Pete Sampras.

Looking at the opening round draw at the Australian Open, 5 Canadians in action. Felix plays Dominic Thiem, off recent form, Felix will lose. Milos plays the best Aussie player, De Minaur, he will likely lose. Shapovalov plays some guy I’ve never heard of, judging by Shapo’s recent form, he could play the local dog catcher and lose. Rebecca Marino came through qualifying, her reward is to play Pegula, one of the top players in the world, she will lose. Finally, Leylah plays against a qualifier that I’ve never heard of, she will win. Some I’m predicting 1 win, maybe Felix or Shapo will surprise me.

Milos will need over 30 aces to have a chance. Felix's match is doable but I'd peg it at 2:1 Thiem. Both guys have had significant ups and downs. It depends which version of each will show up.

Felix did make it through in a 5 hour, 5 set marathon. He's been guilty in the past of not being able to seal the deal, but today he did against a tough and determined opponent.
