Joe Rogan isn't bullshitting, pineapple and anchovies is an awesome flavour profile.

I was about to post this. This actually looks really good. They don't haver anchovies at any of my shops, but I plan to one day order a pineapple pizza and place some smoked sardines on it. The savorry and sweet combo seems like delicious.

C'mon...Brantford gave us Wayne Gretzky, Scarborough gave us Paul Bernardo.
I'm not going to touch that...although Scarborough is also gave us Rick Tocchet who has unresolved issues with Gretzky.

Although this is a thread about pineapple, I have to include Chicago's Italian beef. It would be just another Italo-American sangich without the giardiniera (pickled vegetables). The first time I was in Chicago, I had it wet and the locals looked at me like I was a prim pussy. Since then I've had it dipped every time.

Do you like pineapple on ham? Of course you do, so why not add both to the pizza with tomato sauce......thatsa nice!
Vincenzo is correct # 22.

The reason why pineapple isn't more popular, it doesn't pair well with tomato sauce. Both are citrus fruits high in ascorbic acid (vitamin C) which can be bitter together...you wouldn't put orange juice in a Bloody Mary.

Pineapple with pork, match made in heaven.

Inevitably many work function that I have been at where pizza is ordered go the following way. There is one pineapple pizza eating lunatic with no awareness for others, that convinces someone to order a few pineapple pizzas. Every single time all the real pizzas are fully eaten except for the pineapple pizza which has plenty of leftovers, since only one or two lunatics that insist on it, actually touch the stuff. Zero awareness for others, greedy, selfish assholes - that is the pineapple pizza eater folks.

Of course I am being facetious (they may be fine people) . But the pizza scenario above happens almost every time.

Blame Canada ….

Hawaiian pizza, topped with ham and pineapple, was not an Italian invention. And despite the name, it did not come from the US island state of Hawaii either. The pizza was actually created in Canada in 1962 by a Greek immigrant called Sam Panopoulos.
People have been changing around foods forever mainly for practical reasons. There's a whole list of foods that were changed when people moved to a new country. They couldn't find the same ingredients or were staright up new inventions to suit local tastes:

Egg rolls
Fortune cookies
General Tso's chicken
Alfredo pasta sauce
Spaghetti and meatballs
Chicken / veal parmesan
Garlic bread
English muffins

Actually, tomato or pineapple are not citrus fruits because they don't grow on trees like oranges, limes, lemons, etc. do.
Well blast my lips off I though they were both citrus fruits. A high end Mexican restaurant off Vaughan Mills is serving barbacoa (pulled beef) with pineapple salsa...it's a flavour explosion!

Ainsley Harriot made his debut doing stand up at John Cleese's Secret Policeman's Ball. I found out later he was a chef.

I stand corrupted.

If you order your pizza with the pineapple upside-down, will the delivery guy be expecting a big tip?

Going off on a bit of a tangent, one of my favourite restaurants for steak when I lived in Montreal was Moishe's. They had a large and loyal Jewish clientele.

Anyways, one time I was there and a guy at the table next to me ordered a large rib-eye steak, but with a tall glass of milk to go along with it. Even the waiter rolled his eyes...
