I've been listening to more of Brenton Wood recently. I have to say I'm really digging this dude's music.

All Day Music by War is a fantastic album. The title track is my favorite but this one's a close second.

This has been sampled several times in hip hop. This one is probably the best - Poor Righteous Teachers "Rock Dis Funky Joint"

Bob James "Sign of the Times" (1981)

The beginning of this tune was sampled by De La Soul on one of my favorite joints from them. "Keepin the Faith" (1991)

Chaka Khan is definitely a favorite of mine. Damn this song is stunning. The expressiveness in her voice really comes through. And that guitar lick is just so infectious

3 Feet High and Rising is in my top 10 hip hop albums of all time. The debut album from De La Soul was released in 1989. Here's a couple reasons why

1. "Say No Go"

Which of course extensively samples Hall & Oates "I Can't Go For That (No Can Do)" which is one of the greatest songs ever recorded as far as I'm concerned
Darryl Hall is a criminally underrated vocalist and songwriter

2. "Eye Know"

Great sample of Steely Dan's "Peg"

"Changin" by Brass Construction (1975).

The bassline was sampled by 2 of my favorite hip hop artists - Gang Starr and Schoolly D

Both of these songs were released in 1989.

Kool and the Gang are one of the most integral artists to the foundation and development of hip hop music. Countless samples were taken from them. I've made it a mission to buy every one of their records and I may have to search far and wide to find them all. But I will. As funky as it gets right here

"Pump it Up" Joe Budden sample. Just Blaze produced
