I am confused. Why is the USA so special in that regard? Why Germans, Dutch, French and others can live without easy access to automatic weapons, but Americans cannot?
Different histories, demographics, role in the world, value placed on freedoms.
North Koreans live without easy access to automatic weapons, too.

Why do some countries live with separation of church and state but others don't? Same answer as above.
If you want to decrease mass shootings significantly, you need to decrease gang violence, since that accounts for most mass shootings. Not the lone wolf white guy killer fantasy in your mind.

Each state decides what is permissible. Plenty of people work in the sex industry in the US. As far as porn is concerned, America is the center of the universe.
Anyone in the USA can get an abortion. Might have to cross state lines as some of the population think that killing kids isn't kosher.

The pathetic part of the gun lobby IMO is that they absolutely reject any reasonable limits on guns including universal background checks and red flag laws to get guns out of the hands of people in mental health crisis which are supported by the vast majority of Americans.
