I think the Prez just hit it out of the park. Clearly he wants to make it up to the fans who suffered through one of the Jay's most disappointing seasons ever and this may be the biggest and best move he's ever made to improve results. I've already forgotten about 2023 because of this.

Blue Jays hire new food and beverage company at Rogers Centre | Offside (dailyhive.com)

Guaranteed food costs are going way up along with seat prices. What could be better? And when I say improve results I'm referring to the Jays' bottom line.

BTW, this company is owned by the universally adored Jerry Jones and the New York Yankees.

Looking forward to different over priced food options. Now go sign Cody Belinger.
Maybe that's plan. Make the fans pay more for seats and for food and use that money to sign Ohtani. Give him $60M per year. And then Ohtani will bring in more fans as well.

I’ve been screaming this since last year when he was on the market for the Jays to sign. This is what I’ve been saying about how analytics do nothing to make the game better. All I got in response to me saying we need to sign Bellinger, was a bunch of percentile and analytical bullshit to tell me I was wrong, and look at the year Bellinger ended up having lol. I posted here about how Cody Bellinger has too much of an impressive résumé to just assume he’s done. I couldn’t agree with you more. I bet another member $100 that he would hit 30 home runs this year and I kind of lost, but he did have a turnaround year and he was on pace for over 30 based on his ABs.

I’ll be honest, the way I feel right at this very moment…. I don’t give a flying fuck about the Jays. Shapiro and Atkins have worked together for over 20 years. I hate the fact that Atkins can do whatever he wants, and have complete job security. It’s turning me off of this team right now.

My kid and I chill out and eat sausages and sushi lol.

The poutine hotdog is exciting with the first few bites…. But then it starts tasting like a bad Harveys accident.

…hopefully with this current coaching change, -the Blue Jays can bring in Jose Bautista to show Varsho how to get his hands in better position. Otherwise that Moreno deal is going to hurt for a very long time.

Screw that, put Jose in the batting lineup.

The Jays bother me right now. My aunt works high up in the Dodgers organization,, and I go to New York enough where I can easily side with the Yankees or the Mets. Aside from filling up my birdfeeder with Bluejay seed this winter, I think I’m done with the Blue Jays.

If all the Jays returning players simply average out what they did in 2022 + 2023 in terms of OPS+ -- - not even reach 2022, but get halfway back to where they were, it will represent a marked improvement in productivity. Its not that large an ask when you think about it. Would probably mean at least 40-50 more runs.

You can't even counter by saying some players went up so you have to offset -- because there was nobody still here moving forward that actually did better in 2023. It's astonishing to see so many people head drastically in one direction, with a few staying flat (except the two that were ones and done in KK and BB). Most of the returning players (7 of 9 with over 200 AB) had significant dropoffs of nearly 20% in OPS+ or over.

I don't like Atkins, and its ultimately Atkins job to help figure out the problem, but this seems the easiest path to returning to at least a satisfactory offence. It starts with the hitting coach, and whatever flawed analytical approaches they are using with the hitters. And there is analytics used in hitting approaches now -- just not all of them are right are optimal.

I do feel that our returning player as a whole will do better in 2024 vs 2023, just because 2023 was such a low point.

That being said, at the same time I am concerned about the starters maintaining their 2023 levels as a group. If Manoah gets his head out of his ass, then they will be able to likely at least meet what they did in 2023 -- but Manoah concerns me, and I have to expect that one of Berrios or Kikuchi is going to make a big drop off. Furthermore, as good as Gausman was it seemed like the Twins really figured him out and flustered him, and I'm worried how he adjusts moving forward.

There are Ohtani Jay rumbling on YouTube. That would be quite the cool novelty, but I don’t really think that’s what’s needed.

He'll help them sell more hotdogs.

I actually did hear a good discussion on his potential value to the Jays and to him as well.

He'd now be an icon in 3 countries instead of just 2. That increases his profile and personal marketing potential

Increased revenue for the Jays. Attendance which trickles down to jerseys and concessions. There's some big bucks to be had there.

Theoretically a better product on the field which leads to increased TV ratings which equates to higher advertising fees. Better product on the field means increased revenue streams.

The one that I found very interesting although it's very long play strategy. Ohtani playing for Toronto makes Toronto a much more attractive place to play for for future Japanese superstars. A 14 or 15 year old kid who idolizes Shohei starts thinking how cool it would be to play for the same team that he did. Follow in his footsteps. If it's good enough for Shohei, it's good enough for me.

Offer him $60M/yr, blow everybody else out of the water and it'll pay off in spades.

Having all those pitchers play at the level they did, and relatively injury free, has to be looked at as a one-off. There cannot be an assumption of an automatic repeat. They need a 2022 Manoah year to have an expectation of repeating this year's rotation's success.

TBH, I think that it is quite possible. Reports seem to indicate that he's working his ass off and has dropped some kilos so maybe his head's in a good place which I don't think it was last year. Having said that, there ain't no way that I'm banking on it.

with a solid pitching starters line up Manoah makes good trade bait
for a power hitter
After having a disaster of a season on the field and a bad attitude off? His trade value is about as low as it can get. They'll get next to nothing.

By far their best potential ROI is if they can get him back to where he was. If he doesn't the only thing they lose would be some mediocre return on a trade. Keeping him still provides the Jays for a potentially huge upside from what they got last year.

Why is nobody talking about the change of caterers and the potential new food options.

The Prez, with his forehead, is fucking awesome.

On second thought, I stand corrected. It is sounding like a great idea now lol. Something like that could also make the fan base forgive Ross Atkins.

Ross Aitkens is a looser. I’m not kidding, he’s one of the single-handed reasons for me being turned off of this team right now..

1) GM
2) Manager
3) Vladimir Guerrero
