First there was that spat with the PRC.

Now there is this spat with India.

What's next?

This was Trudeau’s last visit to India as PM of Canada obviously .
Trudeau plans to cut Indian student recruitment to Canada to ease the accommodation crisis
The Indian students have thus far have played an important role in underwriting employment vacancies in the job sectors of retail, hospitalities in the GTA and elsewhere. The skilled IT immigrants from India are filling job voids in Canada as well.
Canada needs India more than the converse.
If Modi starts to discourage Indian immigration to Canada, then Canada will be fucked and have to find another surrogate to backstop the negative birthrate here.
Canada cannot handle the endemic Indian caste systems and obvious religious strife which has been imported very well.
I don't think Modi has any influence or control over Indian immigration into Canada.

Tell me about the caste system and how it impacts Canada? IIRC, BC just banned caste-based discrimination in the province.

Canada is of very very minor significance to India or China. In a diplomatic or trade spat, Canada can get swatted like any annoying fly. Canada needs immigration from India at this point in time, and if provoked Modi could through a temporary wrench in the works to send Trudeau a message which is possible but unlikely Or he might do something else.
Already China has left Canada of of their group travel visa program for example,

The Canadian Constitution already protects against “ caste system “ type discrimination.

This revelation brings what happened at the G20 into a new light. And, if true, is shocking. Assassinating a Canadian citizen in Canada?!?!?

This is a massive story about foreign interference. India is a VERY complex country, and Modi is doing a lot of things that are troubling. He's a Hindu-supremacist, and is sort of unraveling laws that made the country secular. There are new restrictions on Muslims and other religious minorities. And of course the whole independent Khalistani state is causing the government a lot of sleepless nights. Let's not forget the worst terror attack in Canadian history was from angry Sikhs who wanted to a free Khalistani state....

Now, the question comes down to this: will this help or hurt Canada in the long run, and what impact (if any) will it have on Trudeau (who should really step the fuck down...)...

It is, but other G20 countries are treading carefully. Already they let Modi get away with a Russia friendly statement about Ukraine. They don't want it to turn into a North/South thing.
It'll be interesting to see how this plays out, I don't see it as major for Canada yet.

The Sikhs who conducted the worst terror attacks, were Canadian citizens. India does not offer dual citizenship so they renounced their Indian citizenship and became Canadians. So the question is why are a) Canadian citizens asking for India to be balkanized and destabilized? and b) Why is the Canadian government enabling them?

BTW the restrictions on minorities in India are really a myth that western media plays up. I am a minority and almost all of my family lives in India. We have no issues.
Last I checked there was a wee constitutional problem restricting people expressing political opinions in Canada, short of perhaps advocating terrorism or direct hate speech.

So the Sikhs get to advocate that India be dissolved and the Punjab becomes its own state whenever they want in this country. And if Modi wants to order Canada around, he can go suck his own dick.

We've literally had a separatist province right here in Canada for generations, why would India think we would give them any special treatment?

Correct me if I am wrong, but I don't recall those separatists bombing a plane and killing 288 Canadians.
Correct they didn't bomb a plane. They just bombed everything else and murdered a Canadian politician.

Nothing major.

Is it the - Front de libération du Québec? Apparently it was designated a terrorist group as well. But looks like they were only active for a few years in the 60s.

Time to designate Khalistanis as terrorists as well.

But in any case, if the Canadian government is not being efficient with calling terror groups, terror groups, then I have nothing to say. Except that I am not going to lose sleep over some terrorist dirtbag being gunned down either by India or by someone else.

Also I think this is one of those things countries routinely put on the agenda and go back and forth about, without it blowing up too much (pun not intended lol). It's not like people in India care that much about the Khalistani movement either. It doesn't have enough support even within the Sikh community.
I just think it's funny that you spent the whole month defending Trudeau only for him to spit on you and your home country.

No doubt in my mind The Indian Gov played a part in this, but as a world leader something you open your mouth on publicly.

Xi tried to explain it to him awhile back.

2) Chinese agents threaten Canadian politicians…zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

3)China takes 2 Canadian citizens hostage.zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz

That’s fine, you’re allowed to be.

Im drawing attention to the blatantly different stances and public responses.

1) he cares about China in ways he doesn’t India. Despite both being significant trading partners and having teeth.

2) he desperately needs to be seen as someone serious with backbone that cares about Canadians given mute dumb silence over China

3) He desperately needs to change the channel, given he is getting pummeled by Pierre and in polls.

4) all of the above

JT tried to investigate foreign electoral interference but PeePee shut it down.
PeePee is campaigning hard right now but its still too early.
You just have to say PeePee voted against CERB, child benefits, dental, housing and went out and backed the anti vaxxer convoy and bitcoin. When you need to he'll be an easy target.

This is a video from the CBC that describes the history of the conflict in India over the idea of a Sikh state:

The video made a point at the end that the idea of a Khalistani state is an issue amongst the Sikh diaspora community in Canada, the US, the UK, Australia, etc. but that back in India (even in the Punjab region) it is not a particularly big issue.

I think that any nation committing a political assassination on Canadian soil needs to be called out. Period. Or fan Canada do the same and you would be good with that? How about the USA? Or Russia?

Sorry but as a canadian citizen to not denounce this marks you as maybe not as Canadian as you claim.
