Human garbage.
Why would people put anything of value in their checked bags?
When I travel anything of value is on my carry on.

And this is why the US prisons are over populated. The intelligence of criminals diminishes every year.

La la land
You didn't watch the entire video.
This video is a complied of other news stitched together. I did watch the first segment only on youtube. But yes as someone mentioned this has been going on since the beginning of air travel. The only reason they get caught now is because cameras are small.

It will never stop.

Logical progression. Thery have been takers from the beginning. They must have the largest collection of fingernail clippers on the planet. You can legally take some stuff from people (small spray bottle (~1.5") of spot remover, mini screwdriver for changing a small battery in the laptop and so on) and are even proud of themselves for being such efficient ferrets. So they take a baby step over the line (of duty) and start to acquire various trinkets. Lock them up, Lock them up!

I suspect that there are very few Canadian TFSA and American TSA officers that have a university education. The barrier to entry in that job is very low. In my personal experience with these people I find that they are very angry and frustrated people.

same with cops

attracts low intellience and education with a need for power to satisfy their insecurities. Attracts a certain kind of person. Pretty different breed than doctors, nurses, scientists, and even military officers.

I did have a buddy who was doing his PHd and applied with Gaurdia (or something like that) at Pearson to do this job and he did it for 2 years part time and he did say it's the low intelligence guys who do that job for a full time career. Apparently some of them went on to become cops! Those other occupations can attract low lifes too...even if they have better intelligence or work ethic etc. There were a few SPs who told me stuff about their clients who are doctors, lawyers and judges (so called respectable people) etc. and they all try shit on (filming the session without consent, other shit without consent etc.). Some of the pervs we see on the news getting caught are doctors, teachers and priests (bad example since it's well known a lot of them are pedophiles etc. - catholic ones anyway)

Just a small step on the evolutionary scale above parking enforcement officers, bill collectors and lawyers :p ...
