I have been out of the online poker game for quite some time. It goes back to when credit cards got shutdown for financial transfers in Canada.

I used to primarily play Party Poker and within that site I just liked the small table texas hold-em tournaments. 6 or 10 seats and low dollar buy-in like 5, 10, 20 dollars.

I am interested in killing time doing the same again. Any recommendation on sites that may work, describe how easy it is to get money deposited and withdrawn.

Thanks In Advance,
BD

Now I am more confused. I found what appears to be a legit website for Ontario which shows poker from Party Poker but when I try to play, it states due to location data, I am not permitted to play.

https://www.igamingontario.ca/en/operator/operators

Is there a still archaic restriction on online poker in Ontario? Do I need a VPN?

The big problem for online poker sites for Ontario residents is that last year ahole Doug Ford passed a bill limiting the number of sites that are licensed to operate in Ontario allowing about 6 sites available for us to play which means fewer players to fill games such as tournaments especially sit n go. The only one that has a good number of players is Poker Stars. Others available are Bet MGM, WSOP@GG, PARTY POKER and a few other smaller sites. I do not recommend BETMGM. Good luck.

Thanks for the feedback Eddie. As I did try PartyPoker, as you mentioned, there was very little Sit-n-go activity and when I did try to play something I get this message. I assume Poker Stars may give me the same grief.

I forgot to mention 888poker which has a lot of freeroll tournaments but to me the best to play now is poker stars and although I am up $550 I get Soo many bad beats I wonder what the hell is going on. Yesterday in a tournament I had a high flush and lost to a low straight flush all in, WTF.

After I deposit , I go on winning streak but after one week , I started getting bad beat. It always happen at most gaming site. I tend to play part poker more as I dont get bad beats that often.

I agree, I have had this happen to me many times, however, I have noticed that when I get hot, I outflop other players many times, so it works both ways. I keep wondering if it is some kind of a computer pre program but since I have been winning much more than losing, I will continue to play. Another thing, I know that some of the smaller sites use bots to fill tournaments and if I spot them I delete that site.

It’s great to hear you're looking to get back into the small table Texas hold-em tournaments. For Ontario-friendly sites, you might want to check out platforms like 888Poker or PokerStars. They have a good reputation for ease of deposits and withdrawals, plus they support various payment methods, including e-wallets and bank transfers, which should make your financial transactions smooth and hassle-free.
While you're exploring poker options, if you ever feel like switching it up a bit, you might also enjoy checking out some slot gacor hari ini on the side. It can be a fun way to break from poker.

I play mainly play Poker stars, tournaments only, was doing very well for a few months but now can't seem to win anything but small amounts. 888 is okay but mostly have satellite tournaments for a chance to qualify for big money tournaments. Problem is they offer games that take place around dinner hour. The only others available to Ontario residents are GG Pokere, WSOP, Party Poker and Bet MGM which use the same platform and they suck. Also, there are not enough players to fill a lot of games. This is all to do with AHOLE Doug Ford changing the gambling rules for Ontarians. There are literally tons of poker sites around, some quite good but won't be given a license to operate here.

I miss the good old days for sure with poker online. Like has been said throught this thread, my biggest issue is not enough players to play when I want to play small sit and gos. Playing against players in other countries, due to time zones, but also have some interesting discussions going on then.

I don't know if I buy in to the belief it is rigged somehow online, the bad beats happens in rl as well. Maybe more fish online, who play loose or dumb, because their real identity not known maybe?

I also don't like bots, and feel a lot of the poker stars 3 seat sit and goes, where you could win a random prize, had bots but that was just my impression.

Have not played online for at least a year, just hard to find a good tourney when I want to play.

No real live poker rooms near me, I have to drive 4 hours to get to one in the states, and love playing live for a few hours but then have to head back home as can't be away overnight as am a caregiver for a family member.

May poke at poker stars again, just to check it out.

For me, the best tournaments at poker stars are the NL Knockout tournaments with buy ins from $1. to $10. Most of them last about 3 hrs max.GG Poker and 888 also have good tournaments but some of them last for up to 5 hrs. As for BOTS, i noticed that if players take the exact time to make a bet, check or fold, they are usually one.

Thanks Eddie, I have not logged back in yet but may try this evening.

i play Poker Stars....the sit& go,s never fill..........so i play the Big10$ at noon time and manage to hold my own....if you make the final table this Tourney lasts 4 and a half to 5 hours...........the blind structure is reasonable and if you play enough of them you can get to know the tendencies of a few of the regs......who are the fish and the donks....who will accumulate chips and spew them off....the chronic limpers who you can exploit...but knowledge of players is king because some of these limpers will limp in with pocket Kings or Queens or Ak as well as baby Aces or stuff like 10/8 suited.........................im semi retired so i play these Big 10,s a couple of times a week

I play PS as well, usually the $10 knockout tournament at 2.45pm. I have done very well in the past but have since gone through a bad spell where I lost all the $ i previously won. I to keep a record of the regular players especially the very aggressive ones. What I have noticed is that when they raise all in, they usually get the flops that they need, until they try it too many times and lose. My biggest complaint is since asshole Ford changed the rules to licence online poker sites, our choices are so limited to about 6 sites and as you stated there are not enough players to fill many tournaments. Previously I had collected over $3,000 in winnings and the best was I won a 250euro buy in to a live tournament in Manchester England, but since I had to pay my travel expenses, I had the money applied to my account. Unibet was the poker site which was great but they aren't allowed to offer poker in Ont. YOU SUCK ASSHOLE FORD.

So frustrating. I stopped playing NL hold'em when the Ford government made Ontario fenced in games. I literally was on the best run of my life as far as winning percentage. I was playing the 50/50 on 8 player sit and go's on poker stars. 4 people win and 4 lose. The payouts weren't as big, but if you played poker the right way, your winning percentage would be much higher and consistent. You would get knocked out with way less bad beats...etc.

Once it became only fenced in games for Ontario and PS had to make a separate site for Ontario, took way to long to get into games, and the did offer that 50/50 poker anymore. Sucks man...

The other thing I loved about that game is I hate heads up poker, so you did have to deal with that. As soon as 4 people were bust out, game over.

Agree about Ford's new rules that licence about 6 poker sites in Ontario and since I only play NLHoldem tournaments, it is hard to find them with enough players, with the exception of Poker Stars which is by far the largest site on the planet. I miss sites such as Unibet where for a 1euro entry, I won an entry to a live tournament with a 250euro buy in, however, it was in Manchester England and I had to pay my travel expenses, but when I advised them I couldn't go, they paid me the entry fee. Also other sites such a GG, Bodog and more.
