"No way there is systemic racism" - Let me guess you are white? That is the classic, "It is not a problem, because it is not my problem".

Race plays a role in your ability to acquire wealth and move up the social ladder. For example, an employer preferring a "white sounding" name, to an ethnic sounding name when they pick resumes to interview. Or black people being given a different figure for rent, when they search for housing. Heck even home appraisals are different when the home owners race is different in certain cases. One of the most prevalent ways systemic racism is alive and well in Canada is the "Canadian Experience" requirement when applying for jobs. It has nothing to do with credentials but it simply means you are not "Canadian enough" which is just a racist ideal to mean that you are not "white enough".

Or say this:

Wonder if Phil will take the black people in these videos seriously.
If that’s your belief and mindset you will never move on and be successful. You’ll live a life of resentment.

I believe in individuals, not groups of people.

I don’t buy into the bullshit.

Again, "if it is not my problem, it is not a problem at all". Valcazar posted a good video on it in the other thread. Here I post it again to explain to you:

I could post a video of a black man saying the opposite.

If you buy into it, then it’s true.

You mean the stats on reports funded and fudged by political groups.

There is racism in Canada but no way is it systemic, no matter how the data is fudged and presented to stir and sway political opinion.

If you are brought up in a poor community, irrelevant of skin colour, life is far more challenging. Wealth is the real privilege.
Ah, THEY are lying to us as part of their lizard people deep state communist plot. Thanks for the contribution.

p.s. I grew up poor in a poor neighbourhood and saw very capable non-white people who never got the chances I did.

The classical white privilege excuse "post 1 black man saying the opposite" which depicts and shows a whole group. So I guess if we post a video of one man from an ethnic group it illustrates how everyone else feels from that particular ? See how irrational and obtuse that sounds. You either lack awareness or have never been around other ethnic groups to notice WP exists greatly.

I'm sure you have never faced discrimination or racism based off skin color/ethnicity even with an "balanced" playing ground in terms of education qualifications/achievements Its funny because when immigrants flood the city its the same rhetoric "they are taking our jobs how dare they do that when a lot of us can't find jobs".

Easier said if you've never experienced racism or discrimination and live in a bubble thinking it does not exist in our society. Your post is a good example of privilege.
Until the world is ready and able, to look at other people, and not see their sex, their race, their religious beliefs. But just other people.

There will always be problems. We are slowly getting there, but nowhere near close.

In real terms, these days. We see females blaming men for all the problems in the world and sexism. We see non whites ( Caucasians) doing the same. We see people of all faiths, blaming the others for all the problems. And we see the people, on the receiving ends pushing back, and or, denying the inequities ( what ever we want to label them)

back and forth with no end in sight

While white privilege exists, its grossly exaggerated in some area and under-appreciated in others.

Based on crime, education, professional attainment, income, marriage/cohabitation, birth, and many other very-inconvenient statistics, we know that certain non-white groups do very, very well in North American society and we know certain non-white groups just do not, despite many, many group-specific specific programs to address that.

While barriers exist, blaming ‘white privilege’ is just not wanting to address one of the root causes because it’s very difficult and a societally unacceptable discussion.

Personally. I think First Nations face the absolute worst discrimination by everyone and yet in many discussions they’re, yet again, ignored so that the discussion can centre around what gets all the attention.

Funny, how they never ( rarely) get mentioned or the time of day. Even by those who, have barriers, but have made headway.

So we agree. It’s identity politics. I don’t buy into it.

No one cares about First Nation. It doesn’t drive votes or stir up public opinion.

I think you misunderstood his reasoning for stating that he could post a video of someone stating the opposite.

His point, I believe, is that clearly NOT everyone from any particular ethnic group feels the same way, since he can easily post someone from an ethnic group with the polar opposite view as someone else of the same ethnic group.

I think it's because we are bombarded with US culture so we see the White vs Black narrative more than others discriminations.

Canada has begun coming to terms with treatment and discrimination against First Nations people (though there's still plenty of people triggered by that recognition too)

p.s. anti-indigenous racism is another aspect of white privilege.

Yes, that's why people get upset with racism. People of any group are not a monolith and have differing opinions. That said, even though people have differing opinions, the general trends are still there and they show that especially in the US, black people are statistically disadvantaged.

Spoken like a true right wing supporter who negates how every couple months there are residential schools being exposed for burying thousands. The history of Canada is defined by them yet you find a way to dismiss it with votes and public opinion.

White people have it harder because everyone says they are priveleged, so if they don't succeed, they have no excuses other than being a loser. All others can cry "racism" but whitey has to bear the humiliation with no one to blame but himself......think I'll start a GoFundMe

ok, so first off. The correct term is indigenous, not First Nation.

Secondly without googling it. Name the indigenous girl that tried to get the time of day from the Media and JT regarding drinkable water. At the same time Greta was being feted.

Bet you can’t.

While I replied to you. Please don’t think I’m specifically addressing you. I’m not. If anything, I’m adding to your point.

Questioning whether or not I am aware of what has happened to marginalized groups is clearly what your post was about. If you want to play online jeopardy with regards to name this person and that without using Google go ahead and create another thread for that. Will gladly embarass in that game.

This thread is discussing WP and the inability for many people to see it does exist in society, media, business and crime. Denial and ignorance come part in parcel.

The tech being used is controversial. No actual bodies discovered yet.
