Income is taxed at 30-40%, then 13% on anything i buy after that. Property tax, insurance, luxury tax. If i moved to texas i'd get close to double my income for the same job. (When you factor in our weaker currency). We only get 6 nice months of weather a year. At least the escorts are tax free 😅

Anecdotal, but I was in Cuba a few years ago and a British guy told me he had just got back from Thailand and the Philippines. He said Thailand was better. His story was that once he got to the Philippines, he left his wife to sleep off the jet lag and went out to check out the bars around midnight. The first place he walked into and ordered a beer, two girls dropped to their knees, unzipped his fly and started sucking his cock. Free. Included in the price of a beer. Sounded like a Crocodile Dundee moment...."seems like a noice friendly place".
He then told me Thailand was better. I don't know what gets better than that but I didn't ask. I have been to Thailand. Nothing like that happened to me.
I was in the Phillipines about 24 years ago on Borocay island with my ex(I sponsored her to Canada but asked her to move out 6 years after marriage,we are still friends).
There was couple from Vancouver in the resort hut next to ours. My ex became friends with the women and the women explained that her boyfriend wanted to come to the Phillipines to study "Philipino Karate". The guy seemed to have a big ego as one night I could overhear him saying through the wall that a party was held in his honour without him being there on the other side of Canada(something like Nova Scotia or New Brunswick). Then within a few days he found a filipina and left his girlfriend and my ex was consoling her.

I pay much less than $2,000 a month to live in Canada. My family is here, it is a safe place to live and I am covered healthcare wise. Winters are not the best however I can travel and sometimes just hunker down and take it easy. I can date, have girlfriends and if needed could hobby at an affordable price.

The vast majority of things I would ever need are available locally or can be shipped to my home within days.

No need to live like a king because I am extremely content and happy with my current life style.

I do not see the real advantages of living abroad when you factor everything in.
You will need to buy heath Insurance there but the healthcare isn't as good as Ontario even under Ford's cuts.

What cuts would you be refering to? I needed a scope done. From the time I talked to my gp to the time the pipe left my asshole was 5 working days. The system is working fine.

I've worn glasses since my 6th birthday. What cuts are you referring to again? I can't say I've felt any service cuts. It would be nice if the govt paid for my rx shades with D and G frames.

Your not a senior I guess. Seniors used to get yearly eye exams covered by OHIP but not anymore. If you're not a senior, you used to get eye exams covered by OHIP every 2 years but no more.

I'm 63, senior enough but that's a story for another day. Eye exams can find issues, if I have to pay $95 once per year to nip an issue in the bud so be it. The check-up is cheap, 2 pairs of goggles aren't. Don't get me started on hearing aids or dentures.

If I move to the Philippines, I don't plan to meet a woman but if you are there to meet a Filipina there are certain things you need to be aware of.

Maybe I'm smart :):):) to avoid bad areas, I don't know anyone who has been mugged in 416.
I am much more likely to be mugged in my small town than in Toronto. I am almost never in Toronto
-paraphrased from Jimmy Carr.
