Be open to a world where you may not understand or agree with the person next to you, but have a drink with them anyways. Eat slowly. Tip your server. Check-in on your friends. Check-in on yourself. Enjoy the ride."

Hey Anthony,...I liked you, loved your show Parts Unknown, many millions of us felt the same. You decided to kill yourself over an evil bitch who didn`t give a shit about you, that hurt. What a goddamn waste.

The sad part about it, he divorced the bitch that saved his life. He would have overdosed long become he became famous if not for Ottavia Busia - Bourdain. The saddest part she probably would have taken him back if he didn't renew his contract with Turner.

The saddest part, I've never had a Negroni.

Bourdain left Rome late when he got there he was smitten. He did three episodes, the last two I wont watch - the scrofa is in it. In the third episodes he does dine with Francis Ford Copolla.

I did hotel/restaurant school in my early twenties. Bourdain resonated highly to m. Before his travel culinary shows i had already read Kitchen Confidential.

What i remember the most? The love of oysters. The love of street food. He put 2 Quebec chef on the world map.Because he loved their audacity.

all his life he said if the show stops i can go back in the kitchen as line cook where i excel. From that day i have the same mentality... You probably will never see me retired walking the street doing nothing... I will probably cook breakfast at corner street shop ;)

Taking life advice from a guy that killed himself is a good idea?
I guess the only advice Anthony can give from beyond the grave is don`t assign value to pussy. He always seemed to be troubled and she was the last straw.

Yup. You could see it in his eyes. I blame it on his drinking. I watched the documentary and his staff said he was becoming insufferable. He had long since stopped enjoying the ride.

Anthony Bourdain said he did not like Jethro Tull.
I remember that. He didn't like some guy in tights standing on one foot playing the flute. Neither do I usually, but Tull put out some great rock. Minstrel in the Gallery comes to mind. He didn't like Nickelback which I am in total agreement with.

Exactly. Love the Minstrel in the Gallery song and some of their other songs. But like all bands, it is a mixed bag. Did not know he commented on Nickelback.

I think Anthony was wired like a lot of big name comedians, Belushi, and Kinison and Chris Farley, all of whom died a horrible death. It was tough to watch their decline and demise. I think Bourdain just couldn`t accept his success and loss of privacy. Alcohol both numbed him and made him rage.....and everyone stood by and watched.

I don't think fame and loss of privacy was really a concern. Reminds me of a story in the Goldman book about Elvis. He thought he was a prisoner of his fame and couldn't go out anywhere. Somebody suggested he go down stairs and stand on Sunset Boulevard for about 10 minutes and see how it went.
He did. He stood on the street in broad daylight for about 10 minutes by himself. To his chagrin, nobody approached him or even noticed him. He felt kind of stupid after 10 years of hiding away for no reason.

A big fan of Tull here. Similar to my all time favourite, RUSH, I tell people it's an acquired taste.

Sorry, not much sympathy for these people when others say fame and money drove to suicide. A waitress trying to raise a kid on her own because the Father took off has my sympathies.
