The fact you think a bunch of golden retrievers are gonna gang up in a pack and start hunting humans? Dogs would pick some much easier prey, and this scenerio would never happen.

Same reason wolves don't go out of their way to hunt down humans now. šŸ˜‚
I once encountered a bunch of dogs in a pack. About 5 of them who came up the steps of the house I was living in. A couple of German Shepard's amongst them. The rest were about the same size. They came towards me as a group and surrounded me and did a very good impersonation of looking like they were going for the attack. I yelled and waved my arms at them and luckily they reluctantly backed away. They looked like they were going feral. This was in a city neighborhood. Dogs, like people draw courage from each other when they are up to no good. That's how people get attacked by dogs. Hard for you to believe I know.

The dog owner should be charged and fined.
The dog should be euthanized.
Why is the city still not doing anything.
Olivia Chow should be ashamed of herself.

Ridiculous is Harry's middle name. lol.

He talks as if all dogs retain their wild wolf traits. Like a Shitzu or a Pomeranian is going to maul and eat humans acting as a pack? LMFAO. Most dog breeds are docile because that trait has been bred out of them.
Lol not only that, but I'm pretty sure dogs were easily domesticated because they were smart enough to hang around humans knowing they would get scraps. I love the idea of a bunch of Boston terriers hunting down people in the post apocalypse. Lmao

Years ago there was a guy in our neighbourhood who owned two Great Danes. When he took them out for a walk it looked like he was walking two ponies. However, they were well behaved and, to my knowledge, never a problem. But man, were they scary looking.

Fatal dog attacks in the United States cause the deaths of about 30ā€Šā€“ā€Š50 people in the US each year,[1] and the number of deaths from dog attacks appears to be increasing.[2] Around 4.5 million Americans are bitten by dogs every year, resulting in the hospitalization of 6,000 to 13,000 people each year in the United States (2005).[2] A 2018 literature review with meta-analysis by breed, focusing on dog bite injuries to the face, head and neck found that "injuries from Pit bulls and mixed breed dogs were both more frequent and more severe."[3][4]

Injuries, illnesses, and fatalities resulting from encounters with dogs are a major public health concern worldwide. Dogs not only cause morbidity and mortality as a result of bites, but they may also transmit zoonotic infections, which may also result in illness or death. Dogs are the main source of rabies transmission to humans worldwide. It is estimated that 3% to 18% of dog bite wounds become infected, with occasional cases of meningitis, endocarditis, and septic shock leading to death reported. Children have the greatest risk of death.[2]

Below are lists of fatal dog attacks in the United States reported by the news media, published in scholarly papers, or mentioned through other sources. In the lists below, the breed is assigned by the sources.

This isn't quite a pack of dogs hunting and eating humans for food.

That's something a pet lover, rather than an animal lover, would say.

Appreciate all animals for what they are.

Wild horses will graze land for sustenance if left on their own. Wild dogs will kill and eat meat if left on their own. They're evolved from wolves after all.
True, Dingos in Australia are a classic example.Originally domestic ā€œpetsā€, these days ā€œferalā€ pack dogs. However not every domesticated dog is capable of serious harm.

My boy, is a Malinois. Favoured by law enforcement and AF. I got him, specifically for his ability to be trained to do various things. He is ripped, his speed and leaping ability unreal. His bite force, not something I would want to experience.

He does some of these thing and more. Like letting himself in and out of the house.

Despite all that, I would not want him to get into it, with a Pitbulls. Their bite force isā€¦ā€¦..what they were bred for.

When people say itā€™s the owners, not the dog/breed. That is largely true. Some breeds, like Pitbulls are loose canons. And painting every breed with the same brushā€¦..

Cats.
Glad someone mentioned them. As a ā€œpetā€, nothing against them. The fact they are allowed to roam free and owners donā€™t give a ā€œpoopā€ drives me nuts.luckily I live in the country and some lead can take care of them, when my boy doesnā€™t.

When I lived in the city, not much you can do but clean up their mess.

Pets are a big business and the pet lobby is extremely powerful.

I hope nobody will dismiss dog attacks by saying "statistically insignificant".

The owner was charged immediately and the dogs were euthanized also immediately.

Apparently, the dogs were initially handed back to the owner.

lol not a flex. My partner loves mastiffs and all my other dogs have been rescues for the past 20 years. So Iā€™ve had pitts, and other various danger breeds. Not that I prefer these types, Iā€™d honestly love to have just a chill dog that I didnt have to police 24/7. I am a big guy so I can handle strong dogs, and I want to give dogs a nice home and a nice life.

Personally people who breed some of these dogs are a big issue, I tell my partner constantly that you shouldnā€™t own a dog you canā€™t physically control. But I constantly see irresponsible Pitt owners and other large breeds being walked by 100lb women.
Correct. My mom breeds Springer and she makes a thorough investigation to the families that wants to buy. Do you have a yard? Do you have the right situation to care for it? Ect. Also the family do not choose the dog. She choose the dog for them.

There are a lot of unethical breeder and it needs to stop. They are sabotaging their own business with this kind of publicity and people's life too.

Red House over yonder.
Hound of the Baskervilles. Free Sherlock Holmes Basil Rathbone movie about a terrorizing scary hound. The climactic dog attack on Richard Greene about 80% toward the last few scenes will bite your ass. Fiction yes but it shows the intense human reaction to a homicidal vicious dog.

Cash cows.

I have a friend that breeds Tollers. Her bitches are highly sought after ( show dogs). She vets buyers ( all over North America ) like stink. The money she pours into vet bills, raw diets, more. Despite what she charges her margins are pretty thin.

I wonā€™t say what I paid for mine. Again, specialty bred. I originally wanted him for SAR. I donā€™t have the time/energy to volunteer. So that never happened. Had professional trainers, initially to get him going then I took over.

puppy mills, fly by night operations and owners that donā€™t know what they getting, let alone willing to train, especially if working dogs.

Lots of breeds become victims of fads. Go back 40 years and everyone wanted a German Sheppard. Then Dobermanā€™s ( sweet docile dogs but look mean), then Dalmatianā€™s. Then Pit breeds. Today frenchies that are badly bred, you may as well hand over $15,000 to your vet the day you get one.

Amazes me what I see puppies being sold for these days. More often then not by people who see them as cash cows.

As for Pit bulls they are loose canons, and their bite force ( psi) is quite likely bar none. The ā€œworstā€ā€¦personally not a fan of them.
