Cash cows.

I have a friend that breeds Tollers. Her bitches are highly sought after ( show dogs). She vets buyers ( all over North America ) like stink. The money she pours into vet bills, raw diets, more. Despite what she charges her margins are pretty thin.

I won’t say what I paid for mine. Again, specialty bred. I originally wanted him for SAR. I don’t have the time/energy to volunteer. So that never happened. Had professional trainers, initially to get him going then I took over.

puppy mills, fly by night operations and owners that don’t know what they getting, let alone willing to train, especially if working dogs.

Lots of breeds become victims of fads. Go back 40 years and everyone wanted a German Sheppard. Then Doberman’s ( sweet docile dogs but look mean), then Dalmatian’s. Then Pit breeds. Today frenchies that are badly bred, you may as well hand over $15,000 to your vet the day you get one.

Amazes me what I see puppies being sold for these days. More often then not by people who see them as cash cows.

As for Pit bulls they are loose canons, and their bite force ( psi) is quite likely bar none. The “worst”…personally not a fan of them.
True! I have 2 frenchies. Cute but vet pit. I keep saying I would be rich without them lol. If I would have to do it again, I would go for a good ol mutt.

According to councillor Paula Fletcher, it wasn't immediate. City staff returned the dogs to the owner and made no effort to seize them. According to Fletcher, it was the owner that had the dogs euthanized, not the city. The dogs had been previously declared dangerous.

Okay now that makes sense as to why both were put down...I'm assuming the owner was upset and knew she had to do something.

Question.....How effective are raw diets for dogs? I know some vets are dead against it but I'm thinking they might be just programmed by what they're taught in school. Which is probably funded by the pet food companies.

I like them, love the way they talk, but

I personally think they are a little better. Certainly better for us and cleaning up the landmines. Not sure anyone could ever prove it one way or the other. My friend has all kinds of literature on it. She swears by it. And it’s hard to argue with her show results. From her original bitch, she now has 3 with all kinds of awards. And, she’s as picky about who she use as studs, as she is buyers. In short, she’s hyper careful, and does tons of due diligence when it comes to her dogs. If she swears by, that’s good enough for me.

Do I? No, too much hassle, and given how much my boy eats, I’d want a second freezer.

Prior to deciding on a Malinois, my other top choices were a Bull mastiff, and one of her Tollers. I love Tollers, and would love a good bird dog,. Not sure I’d love cleaning up after a long hair or a Mastiff…..:)

What the fuck is wrong with these dumb dog owners who refuse to leash their fucking dogs!

My cat likes to walk in the hallway of the apartment, and this dumb bitch brings out her dog without leashing him and the dog almost mauled my cat. Thankfully I stay very close to my cat when he walks and I moved quickly, blocked access and held the dog by its collar before the owner came and took control. SMH.
Amy Cooper syndrome..Some people care more about dogs than they do about other people...

Given that the dogs were already declared dangerous (and may be 'pit bulls' as described in 157/05 Pit Bull Controls regulation under the Dog Owners Liability Act 1990) I would wonder if the City of Toronto could be held liable?

I didn't hear if the City even issued a ticket under these Acts and regulations for the previous or current incidents. But it would seem negligent if they did not.

Personally, I'd be suing the fuck out of the City of Toronto for my injuries and their negligence. I suspect the owners are low lifes and have no money and no liability insurance. But suing both the owner(s) and City (and anyone else who was negligent) woudl certainly result in a finding of liability. Then it would be the Court's decision on percentage of liability unless it could be argued liability was joint and several. 🤷‍♂️ I don't know but would be very interested in some lawyers/legal opinions on this.

I am pissed because there is a tough guy asshole in my building with 2 pit bulls that allows them to be unmuzzled in the building, AND allows them to run off leash in the local park! The condo refuses to enforce the no pets rule and the City (311) says they do not investigate pit bull complaints.

And I love, love, LOVE dogs. Have had 2 in my life but know that I am too busy to properly care for one now.

I feel so bad for this woman and hope she somehow recovers. Emotionally and physically.

My boy, is a Malinois. Favoured by law enforcement and AF. I got him, specifically for his ability to be trained to do various things. He is ripped, his speed and leaping ability unreal. His bite force, not something I would want to experience.

Despite all that, I would not want him to get into it, with a Pitbulls. Their bite force is……..what they were bred for.

When people say it’s the owners, not the dog/breed. That is largely true. Some breeds, like Pitbulls are loose canons. And painting every breed with the same brush…..

Belgian Malinois are likely one of the most intelligent, active and capable dogs in existence! But as you note, they take an incredible amount of time and attention to humanely own. Good for you to be able to own and care for one. I know someone who has one and it takes so much of their time. However, they wouldn't change it for the world! However, knowing lots of other excellent dog owners, not one of them is up to owning a Malinois. Props to NGY!

Unlike other dogs, they tend not to need nor want too much socializing with other dogs. They really prefer their Master's time and attention.

Others should check out some YouTube videos on them. Too many to even choose one so have a look. incredible!

They are incredible dogs. Well worth the investment of time. Still wish I had the time to get him into sar as originally hoped. But life doesn’t always go the way we want. The trainer I was using has one for live sar, and one for cadaver.

Malinois was asking, "Before we get started, does everybody have health insurance?"
