Your duties may include:

  • Slaughtering hogs (eviscerate, hide removal, etc.)
  • Butcher and package pork primal cuts into value-added specifications for local, national, and international premium markets
  • Maintaining our sanitation program

That would be a big hells to the No from me thanks! LOL
Some of us like to eat meat and don't want any idea how it got to our plate.
I digress. There are other jobs in the west and cheaper housing. My great grandparents arrived here in 1905, located to the west and made a go of it. There are places other than Toronto refugees can go.

That’s one of the reasons I took up hunting years ago. Wanted to learn “from field to table”

Not a fan of John Tory. But.

Canada was very different 100 years ago, very different in the 1980s too. The fisheries in the Atlantic provinces still viable. Forestry/mining in Northern Ontario. Manufacturing all over the place. Farming, before the wheat board…..etc and so on…

Sure, we could locate both refugees and immigrants where we deem. What’s going to keep them in Timbuktu ? Chains?

Nope. Nadda. No way. I don’t even keep the fish I catch because I can’t do the process of “from lake to plate”. LOL.

I’m admittedly happy in my ignorance. LOL.

Jenesis, I was married to a first generation Canadian whose parents immigrated from Sicily. Her mother and father taught me a lot about gardening, butchering, processing….miss “Nona” but not my Ex :)

Will never forget the day my oldest was around 6 playing with some rabbits in the garage. Didn’t have the heart to tell her at dinner time why they weren’t in the garage anymore……….

The mayor doesn't control the police. Contrary to what every right winger thinks. There is a Police Services Board. Which is a civilian oversight committee, supposed to non-political. The Toronto Police is a police service, not a police force.
Who funds the police? Who decides on the budgets?

A relative of mine from Ghana with a bachelors degree in economics is employed by one of those companies. He arrived in the winter and started in Saskatoon. They had to herd chicken into pens in the cold and butcher them in slaughterhouses. $20 an hour plus accommodation. He is making enough to send some back to relatives. So are the other 25 workers, mostly from Africa. They have set up a channel to get more of their friends to join the program and there is a scramble to sign up.

By the standards in Ghana, he was making good money back home. $5000 a year. Gross. Now, with all the overtime he can get, he is clearing $3000 a month - after taxes. And doesnt have to pay rent. Every day before he goes to bed, he says a prayer: God bless Canada.

Frankly, Canada should place a complete moratorium on all immigration and refugees from any/all countries around the world for any/all reasons for a at least a 1-3 year period until it can properly address healthcare, housing, employment and wage issues faced by those individuals (citizen or not) already in the country. Adding more to an already crappy situation isn't helpful or fair for anyone.

A pause makes too much sense. This will never happen with a Liberal government with an NDP tail in Ottawa. Our PM love the photo ops too much. Now the Liberals are saying immigration is Toronto's problem.

Stop making sense. Liberals are red, Conservatives are blue. Neither gives a fuck about you. Nothing will get fixed.

Whatcha` think about this? Chow raises property taxes in Toronto.. substantially. Anyone taking in homeless/refugees/immigrants, whatever, receives a substantial tax reduction. Gun to your head politics, she has probably already run this by her team.

I'm betting that if they shot and killed the wrong person she'd have plenty to say....
