Ah those Russians. I remember reading several years ago that Russian scientists found a 40,000 year old fish in Siberia frozen in the permafrost. In true Russian spirit. They thawed it out, cooked it and ate it.

Have to say that I get a bit worried when I hear that something organic that has been trapped and frozen in ice for millions of years comes alive again when released from the ice and is thawed out.

What kinds of infectious and/or parasitic microbes existed way back then for which we have no immune system defenses?
