I am going only by statements made by multiple parties and in the absence of evidence to the contrary he is entitled to that position.
I think his job sucks. He's being put in a bad position where the closest he'll get to the Supreme Court is a tour.

I think the Judge came out of the whole thing looking the best, honestly. She's the only one who seemed to be completely on the ball.
We haven't even seen the plea agreement, so we don't know how badly drafted it is.
I seem to recall some shakeup in the prosecution team not too long ago as well, so I'm not even sure it is the same team presenting as the one that drafted it.
Need to check on that.
But really "Woah, there's some weird shit here and you all don't seem to be on the same page" seems a completely reasonable reaction from the judge, and once that happens it makes perfect sense that she wasn't going to let them come back with "Oh, we worked it out now" without insisting whatever they worked out being written up with all the i's dotted and t's crossed and shown to her.
