Naloxone...
Hope you know that people who just get it ( Fentanyl) on their skin need it sometimes.. you know like nurses, cops, etc. and so on…
I need to correct you on that one.
No, that is a common myth.
Fentanyl cannot be readily absorbed through the skin, nor can you overdose on fentanyl by touching a doorknob or dollar bill.
What we used to do is put people who had severe drug and mental issues into treatment programs. It was determined that this practice went against an individual's rights. So now what we have is all the homeless, drug addicts and people with mental problems roaming the streets. We provide "safe injection" sites that makes it easier for the drug dealers to target their customers. We let them set up tents and take over our parks. We let them wander the streets like zombies. Is that actually better than the way we used to do things? Our policies now, clearly aren't working.
When people talk of "affordable housing" to get people off the streets, what they really mean is "free housing." And who is going to pay for that? The unfortunate part, is these people are so messed up that even if you give them a free place to stay, it usually gets destroyed along with the area around it in no time. Just look at what happened to the two hotels the city took over to house the homeless. One at Mt. Pleasant and Eglinton and the other on the Esplanade. It was a disaster in and around both locations. People who lived in the area, ones who pay lots in taxes and other fees have had enough of the violence, human excrement, discarded needles, ear-piercing chaos, and general debauchery that ensued in those neighbourhoods.
