The politicization of the AMA has been addressed by myself and others multitudes of times.
Actually, it hasn't.

Whenever I mention the dreaded topic of the AMA, you say "The AMA has been politicized!"

But you never explain why or how, or discuss any of the position papers or analysis. You just say the first thing that comes into your head. How about the 4 recent judicial decisions that struck down state bans on trans affirmative health care. I invited you to read them and discuss them with me, but you declined. Why?

This is not a truthful representation of the concerns of people who are for stricter gun laws. People dont fear legal gun owners or the guns themselves.

They only fear situations where a guy may purchase a gun legally, like most mass shooters do and then proceed to mass murder people.

Any laws unfortunately will impact legal gun owners as well, but short of Minority Report like science fiction, there is nothing much more the government can do. It does seem to be working because as you say our gun deaths per capita is quite low. On the other hand, the United States right now is out of control and guess what they dont have? Stricter gun laws.
Lol, another one that hasn’t bothered to read stats. Some/Many of which I’ve conveniently supplied in this thread. At the cost of my time. You think I’m doing that because……..??

As for the US. We can at-least agree there.
but there is GC that makes sense. Addresses various things, or weaknesses or known problems. Then there is what we’ve seen here in Canada for the past 30 years…while the actual problems…..skate, get out on bail, smuggle guns from the us. Sell them on black markets and or off each other and innocents in the process.

and with respect to fear.”please”.
The two strongest motivators knowto humans is fear and greed.

politicians from all side, as do activist (on all side of all issues) as do the media use fear. And greed but that’s a different topic.

why?
Your support.
Here’s but one “clue”.
ASsualt Rifles. AR-15s…no…such…weapon

AR= Armalite
They are called Carbines and if I could it I’d dig up the RCMPs internal directions when trying to justify the budget and cost for them in the public domain.

“Call them what they are. Carbines…the public fears ARs”

I don’t know why I try….my time is valuable…

I am seriously not going to spend the time finding that “strategy” directive. I tried variations of “RCMP justify Carbines”…RCMP memo carbines”. Etc.

but you know what. Any of you can go to Google. Type “RCMP carbines”…you know what you will find. Not once, not twice. All the hits.
You will find this

Funny that. The public gets to read about RCMP and carbines….but me, what I buy ( don’t actually own one) It’s an assualt rifle.

same gun…only difference is capacity. But wow, a far more deadly thing. But they get to call it what they are…..Carbines. so you don’t react so strongly…

still so sure about fear? And agendas. And bs, misrepresentations and the “uninformed”….

No they use Carbines….get it right.
And if you don’t understand the nuances between using the words Carbine or Assualt rifle. And if you don’t understand the power words have. Well, I know what I could say, but won’t. Words have power…you strike me educated, well written. Surprised you don’t know that. But I should also point out you said the public doesn’t fear guns. Sorry to break it to you. Nice deflection attempt.

Furthermore I have to correct you yet again. Do you think I enjoy this/that? What you really meant to say I’m sure is.

mass shooters in the US use Carbines, with 30 round magazines…by all means, knock yourself out. I’ll wait for your reply.
How many times has a Carbine been used to kill a bunch of people here. You do know I hope this is Canada? And make sure, while your searching they werent “Carbines” smuggled from the US ( Nova Scotia)

For a smart man, not a very smart rebuttal is it. Can you try something with stats, logic, shoot down some laws. Shows us how they are weak etc, and not moving the goal post having been made to look like the exact problems here in Canada.

How for 30 years, politicians, activist, and like minded people have used fear ( like calling them AR-15s but the RCMP….nah you were right about that weren’t you…and more I could bring into this.) and as a result gone after things that won’t do any good, relaxed bail conditions, reduced sentences, sometimes even plea bargain charges down for convictions, gone after legal gun owner's etc and so on AD NAUSEUM. But not the problem….

misrepresentations, out right lies, so that the-uniformed..(to some degree that’s ok, I don’t know much about cars. A mechanic I’m not) but as it pertains to this…

meanwhile the blood that’s pooled for 30 years.. Well it’s on your hands too at this point. Deal with that.

What do you think should be done? Specifically? If not for a ban?
yep, you are exactly the type of person that’s a big part of the problem here. Very much like the far right/NRA in the US. Ying to Yang. Do I really need to take you by the hand, walk you through it?

A wise man ( I weep for my children with stuff I see these days from too many Canadians these days) once said.
“You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make them think”
Another said
“The definition of insanity is”

You think maybe try what we haven’t done for the 30 years because of people like you…..
You know….Go after the problem.
And apparently because reading isn’t something you like to do.
Yet again how bout we start here.

OMG
Did you not read the article?
In plain English. Get tough on those who commit various gun related offenses for a change????????????Be that getting caught with one in a hoodie or smuggling them across the border, or selling them on the black market. Stop letting them out on bail so easily, stop reducing sentences, stop plea bargaining etc etc etc. Rocket science , I know. Give law enforcement, intelligence services, borders services the resources and tools they need for a change???Rocket science, I know.. Use the money that’s blown on pie in the sky feel good stuff for even more…Rocket science, I know…

Now it’s time for you to learn how to support your arguements. Show us, anything. We are woke these days, we use science and empirical data do we not? You got nothing! You guys, the left? Or is that only when it suits you….

However many pages this thread is now. You and those like you have been given stats, a
Examples of this and that. I’ve had to mans plain laws (our gun controls are good, there are not holes).Same old, same old. 30 years and running…

So your turn for a change.
Anything that’s supports your argument. . Because there are a not lot of mass shootings here and yes they use events in the States for their gain..more fear mongering..OMG mass shooting over there…and your quaking at the knees obviously…

In the last 10 years, I’ll even settle for 25 years. How many times has someone walked into a school and unleashed hell.here

in the last 15 years, how many times has someone walked into a theatre, a hospital, a bar, and unleashed hell with an “AR”….here

Then there’s…
Most horrific events here are traced to firearms from the US. Are you seriously that obtuse? But even then the stats……

What’s our gun death per capita????With and without gang related shooting.? You know show me something factual other than your emotional belief we aren’t safe. We are all about the science these days…… aren’t we??????

But I’m a pretty easy going guy. Even if, you somehow manage to still believe we aren’t safe. Are you afraid when you drive the 401. Do you lose sleep at night, worrying about a drunk driver killing you? Because the stats say…maybe you should be if you are so afraid of stuff…

Show me anything that supports your contention bans will work…Anything. And do keep in mind all police forces agree with me…. Please for the love of god don’t use small countries half way around the world or China as someone tried to. Shit they kill people for stealing gum…;) Want to talk getting tough??That person made me laugh my ass off.

And if you think Canada is so unsafe. Why did you and 100,000s immigrate here every year..? Again, I can support my arguements. Have been.

You
/crickets

And yes, it’s been this way for 30 years. Meanwhile…………………

Man, every time I ask you something, you keep repeating the same thing! Yes I know you think they are creating fear and mislabeling certain types of weapons.

But I am not arguing. I am actually asking, not sarcastically or insincerely, I am actually asking, what you think will work to prevent mass shootings and gun violence, if you think banning is not going to work?

You linked me to an article that talks about 326 people with gun charges being out on bail. However, people who commit mass shootings typically tend to be legally clean and not prior criminals. So how will not letting people out on bail solve that issue? This what you have linked here seems to be a distraction from the problem, not a solution.
No.

"Mass shootings"; the ones that lead the news and fit the narrative justifying the disarmament of legal gun owners are still statistical outliers.

Most mass shootings still involve inner-city minorities, who were never legal gun owners to begin with.

Focusing on "assault rifles", when all rifles make up a single digit percentage of gun violence, is the distraction.

Gang crime is one thing. But the larger issue is mass shooters killing children in schools or shooting up people in malls.
Ok, how often does that happen here…you’re going to struggle to find them. Does it happen. Absolutely. So does a drunk getting behind the wheel….

Well one thing we can look at that cuts through the BS is the GD/C adjusted for gang related shootings..

We can look at statistical trends. Violent crime? Trending down…does that not say we are getting safer. Upticks in gun violence? Yup. So what’s the source…can you say gangs, black markets. The very things the left ignore, are soft on….

I have no problemswhith GC when we can identify problems, quantify them. I’m all ears…..And think of things that can reasonably be argued and shown-it will make a difference.

Know what what one of the biggest factors is here in gun deaths unrelated to gangs…

ALCOHOL….once again.
In both suicides and domestic violence…
so why arent you and the left screaming to ban that.. with most of those incidences in rural Canada. Just that part of the country no one in urban centres gives two shits about. And as such nor do the politicians…we could also look at economics and lack of opportunities there too. And self centered urban dwellers who don’t care such things until job losses and economic contraction happens to them…

But for 30 years, this “debate” has raged. With nothing being done about the actual main problems…bodies have piled up in the meantime. Not unlike the US…but here it’s the opposite. With the left playing on emotions, ignoring the science. ( funny that) Doing Jack shit about gang bangers, the smuggling, but ( lying) annd uninformed who don’t know better, easily fooled and swayed. Getting in the way.

Except that it isn't the larger issue; it's still a statistical outlier. As is gun violence committed with any rifle.

The criteria for what constitutes a "mass shooting" constantly changes, according to the narrative, which isn't even consistent between the major news outlets. But sure, focus on legal gun owners and "assault rifles" like they're the main problem.

Regardless of the circumstance, for the sake of simplicity, just look at how many people die as a result of guns.

In 2021, the most recent year for which complete data is available, 48,830 people died from gun-related injuries in the U.S., according to the CDC.

Are you cool with that number?

Lmao while the US is sick.

you are aware they have something 370,000,000 people????? that is why gd/c and/ or rates and or trends are important.

It’s kind of like saying OMG there are 38,000,000 Canadians in the world…way too many.

What do you mean by "sick"? Pandemic? What did that have to do with the confirmed with gun deaths in 2021?

Yes, the US' population is something like 370 million. Yes, 48,830 people is 0.0132 percent of the total population. Does that suddenly make those gun deaths alright?

How many deaths would be meaningful to you? Does anyone have to die because of guns in the 21st century? If so, why? Can they be prevented? Should they be prevented, in your opinion?

Do you read post Pleasure Hound? Or just cherry pick what you want to suit your narrative. Many times I have said the US is “Ill” (by every definition). Many times I have said the far right and the NRA are problems. Many times I have said I have zproblems with GC and am pro GC.. So what the “F” is your disconnection?

while I am a pretty patient guy. There’s comes a point I won’t suffer fools. Those that done “listen” or read as the case may be.

You’re not even worth humoring given all the answer are there for you if you had but excercised your brain a little.

Somehow doubt your man enough to say “My bad”.

So we went from "AR-15s are bad", to "gun violence rates" and now you're bringing it back to total gun-related injuries...talk about moving the goal posts.

But yes, I'm "cool with that number" as I'm not responsible for it.

Are you "cool" with the human smuggling and underage prostitution that comes with the hobby?

Funny how whenever faced with truths they don’t like, stats they don’t like, mansplaining laws/regs the differences between Carbine/AR and more they don’t like. They move goal post, deflect, don’t answer much. Much like the liberals in the house.

But when done to them…….:)
Very nicely played. Did you notice how he didn’t even try to answer a hard truth. wonder if they might answer what they think the money gets spent on instead….

And what have we done about the Carnage on roads. Banned alcohol? Gone after responsible drivers? Or brought in hefty penalties for those that drink/drive…Did it help?

My bad…cunning. Just as I was reading I got distracted. “Brain cramped”, thought it was PH.
also man enough to know when I’m wrong..to own it. Another sad thing about people today.

however point stands. Have been “saving” that, hoping some of them would see the hard truth/light. Apparently not :(
