\Just 6 years in the NHL. In a city where no one plays hockey. And they win the Stanley Cup over a team from another city where no one plays hockey. A complete indictment of the NHL
Congrats to Vegas!
I think it is a wake up call to other organizations on how to build a team capable of winning the cup. Vegas hired experienced hockey people (versus a rookie GM and President such as Toronto had), a proven coach, and then brought in players with no ego who were hard workers.
The team does not have a core group of highly paid players and won the last three rounds using their 5th string goalie.
The city itself has embraced the team, they put on a good show for the fans, and have a solid fan base.
Classy move starting 5 out of the original 6 misfits for the opening face-off.
Hard not to respect a franchise like that.
