It's likely a scam. Just ignore it.

I still remember the time I got a call form a CRA scammer just before 5 on a Friday night a couple of weeks before X-mas.

I was tempted to call them back and ask if they honestly expected me to believe that even the most dedicated government employee would be making a call like that so close to quitting time on a Friday and starting legal proceedings a couple of weeks before most government offices would be shutting down for the holidays.

It is a scam.

If Service Canada wants your attention, it's not by robo call. They did call me, I asked several questions for verification, which they answered.

I hear you but I vaguely remember CRA reps from Alberta and B.C. picking up their phones 5:00PM our time because they are 2 or 3 hours behind us but I always try to call during normal Ontario office hours so I usually get reps from the Maritimes and Quebec/Ontario.

Of course it's a scam the government of Canada would not use robocalls on verifiable emails or text messages to get in touch with you if you stay on the line and try and talk to somebody and give them shit they'll just hang up it's all a numbers game the more calls the more dumbasses they're going to catch

Whenever any calls me about new windows, duct cleaning, water heater, etc… I always tell them to come over.

I live in a high rise condo building.

I love it when they say if I don't act they cancel my social insurance number.

At present I am still working, so that is how all my tax money gets in.

Cancel it.

I wont be able to remit taxes any more.

My dad did that once. He kept them on the drive way for ever, until the sales guy realized he was getting scammed by the old man he is trying to scam.

I have my phone set to send unrecognized callers directly to voicemail, works great.
I just listen to their spiel for a few seconds to see where it is going and then hang up.

The problem in not picking up your phone is they keep calling.

Well, I'm not alone in getting these annoying calls.

Whatever became of the "no call" list?

when these scammers call pretending to be from Service Canada, CRA, etc. I request to communicate in French. The fuckers will hang up. If not I like to waste their time as much as possible

Interesting. I actually still have enough French I can ask them in French to speak French.

If it is a sales pitch I usually let them go through their whole spiel and then when they are finished I say " I'm sorry I was distracted , could you go through that again?" They usually just hang up or start yelling and swearing at me.
