Umm... the show was Rocket Robin Hood.Roger Clemens is the greatest man to ever live lol. I remember singing my own abbreviated version of the Rockin' Robin Hood theme song, specifically designed for this man.
"hands up to rocket marching together. Hits the corner at 95 in all types of weather..... blah blah blah"

damn spellcheck!Umm... the show was Rocket Robin Hood.
I haven't heard that song in 20 years lol. Gotta love that 1960s animation.Umm... the show was Rocket Robin Hood.
Gurriel and Moreno are both having strong years thus far with Arizona. The Jays (especially Guerrero) cant hit in the clutch. We got a good defensive left fielder who can't hit a major league fastball. Remember Romano became closer by default. They signed Kirby Yates but he got hurt.
Rick Reuschel and Lamarr Hoyt.I will give Manoah a little more time ...but he too was over hyped. How many 280 pound pitchers have been really good as starters (CC Sabatha only one - but he could throw harder in his younger days as a leftie).
Everything you have said is so true. I will say though, I think Manoah is still capable of finding a rhythm when he works. He's getting winded. His conditioning and the pitch clock are not working well together. but I still think he can find a rhythm. What the hell happened to his velocity? The Jays (especially Guerrero) cant hit in the clutch. We got a good defensive left fielder who can't hit a major league fastball. Back to Guerrero - other teams stars come through when it counts - Judge best example but there are others. We have a batting practice superstar.

Glad to see Janssen playing more.
Right now this is not a playoff team. And they need a no nonsense manager (who knows the rules).
That is another HUGE issue. Romanos 96 to 97 mph fastball is not enough. So with the juiced guns of today, that's like crossing the plate at 91 mph as it would've been registered 25/30 years ago. He doesn't have enough velo or movement on his fb, and he doesn't throw a heavy ball either. Light and flaky, and bp when he misses his spots. And I can't stand that twitching in his back leg before he starts his wind up, which totally indicates a jumpstart for runners.
Big but probably not 280, and if I recall neither of them fireballers. I will give you another heavyweight for his height - Fernando Valenzuela - who was also great for a few years. My point is that his body is not that of a typical pitcher.Rick Reuschel and Lamarr Hoyt.
Mickey Lolich attempted to start a Michigan version of Tim's, like Tommy Lasorda, he loved to eat. How big did he get?Big but probably not 280, and if I recall neither of them fireballers. I agree totally and have made similar comments in the past. Romano only has 2 pitches and neither is exceptional. His fast ball does not have enough movement to be consistently effective at the speed he throws it. He relies too heavily on his slider, which is good but not great, and good hitters that look for it eventually square up with it. For a few games his slider was breaking more downward like a curve and he had some success with it, but that disappeared. A lot of folks want him to be successful because he is a local guy and that would be a great story; but if he continues on the current trajectory, he will be the next Joey McLaughlin. That is another HUGE issue. Id rather see Pearson as a closer tbh. With regular work at a regular pattern and Nate "airing it out" we will easily see 101 mph with regularity.

I still remember the Consumer's Gas commercial from the early 80's featuring the Blue Jays venerated Arson Squad. Jim Clancy stakes the Jays to 5 -0 lead then hands the ball over to arsonist I can't remember. The ball sails over his head, then Roy Lee Jackson comes in and the ball sails over his head, then the mighty Joey McLaughlin comes in and you can guess what happened. The Jays lose the game, as the Arson Squad enjoy their hot showers courtesy of Consumer Gas, Jim Clancy walks by shaking his head. Brilliant stuff.A lot of folks want him to be successful because he is a local guy and that would be a great story; but if he continues on the current trajectory, he will be the next Joey McLaughlin.
