"McDavid, Panarin, Matthews, Karlsson, Tavares, Doughty, Marner, Toews, Kane, Kopitar, Bobrovsky.

None of them have EVER reached the second round after signing their $10mm + contracts."

Matthews, Tavares and Marner made the 2nd round this year. I think Carey Price is a $10mm player, made it to the CUP Finals.

Seattle giving Dallas a beat-up to-night.

I don’t understand why the NHL gives such a weighted advantage to the last place team in the lottery, since one of the reasons for the lotto is to discourage tanking.

26% last and then only 14% for second. In fact where the odds are fairly flat is between #2 and #8 where it ranges from 7% to 14%.

It’s a big advantage for #1 compared to #2. It’s much flatter in the NBA between #1 and #4 and I think that fairer.

I don’t say this as a Montreal fan … because they were given the same huge advantage last year. And at #5 in the league 9% is fair.

It’s just the distance between #1 and #2 odds seems to big to me. Not sure it fully achieves the objectives you want from the lottery.

Sportsnet/ESPN Screws up the Draft Lottery broadcast - Weekes tells the world that Columbus will be #3, right before commercial and 5 minutes before it is shown on TV. The draft lotto conspirators I'm sure will make something out of this, although I suspect it is just a production issue.

So, I'm not losing my mind. I even hit the rewind button to watch it again, thinking I missed it.

Poor Anahiem, second again.

Montreal must be pissed.

When they introduced David Poile they mentioned his retirement. They could have thanked him, or congratulated him on his 40+ year distinguished career. Always a class act.

I think it is a compromise based on the historical perspective where the last place team automatically got the #1 pick. They still feel that the last place team deserves a big advantage.

Florida Panthers in Miami, FL. Carolina Hurricanes in Raleigh, NC. Las Vegas Golden Knights. Dallas Stars/Seattle Kraken. Wow! These are the "hotbed" hockey cities left standing in the playoffs? Amazing, really

Florida and Vegas are playing very sound and thorough games. Both of these teams are very focused and play hard every shift.

Bobrovsky (sp?) is playing his best ever and the entire team is playing inspired hockey. The coach Maurice, has impressed the hell out of me. He speaks in volumes of his players. He reaches out to veterans to get their take on the game at that moment and relays it to the rest of the team, he treats them very well. In this playoffs, he has shone as a communicator.

not always sure...
I haven't been a fan of either Vegas or Dallas but that was one of the best hockey games I've seen in years last night.
Super wide open and entertaining, every single shift was intense.
Game 6 should be interesting.

Vegas doesn't have one player making north of $10mm. Eichel is exactly at $10mm.
P.S. Bruce "Sundance Kid" Cassidy must be happy he left the Bruins.

Looking forward to the final. Two teams, completely committed and ready to give it all. Hope it goes 7.

I'm surprised no one has pushed to re-name the Stanely Cup. Surely Lord Stanely was a racist, misogynist, homophobe, etc., etc., etc.

I am really impressed with the Golden Knights. No 50 goal or 100 point scorer. No one making north of $10mm and they are up 1-0 in the cup finals.
