I dont think anyone would be missing anything valuable if Fox was banned. They are trash anyway. But so is CNN, MSNBC etc.,

Having said that I dont think they should be banned because they said something incendiary or because they are trash.

If Fox is "intolerable" and has to be banned, then imagine what that slippery slope looks like. Scary.

But I dont think they will be at the end of the day.

I think they make too much money for the cable companies to be banned. And if Fox was banned, the idiots would just sit around sucking their thumbs and blocking the intersections.

The only reason they're using the word "banned" is because it's currently allowed. Let's not pretend every channel that exists on the planet was allowed before this. RT has been banned for a while now in Canada and the US. As-Sahab Media would likely not be allowed to be broadcast on Canadian or US networks. The same for Aletejah TV.

So let's not pretend this is the first step of censorship and is unique to "lefties". Censorship has existed even in free, western democracies as long as media has existed, and there is plenty of right-wing driven censorship and cancel culture too.

Regardless of what outrage the Stolen Valour and right wing crowd here will say, and how they may try to claim they don't support any censorship in response to this, no one believes for one second that the bulk of people who lean right wouldn't be very happy to see Hezbollah or Al Qaeda propaganda networks banned.

The US courts were going to determine that FOX broadcast misinformation knowingly, but they didn't want to be publicly exposed in detail so they settled by paying 800 million bucks. That is still an admission of guilt. I personally don't care if FOX is available because I wouldn't watch it anyway.

You do realize what the CRTC is all about, right? It's about protecting Canadian culture and regulating broadcasters. It has every right to ban ANY international channel. And, it isn't like they're blocking you from accessing Fox. I mean, I don't subscribe to that shit show, but I can easily access content from them if I so desired. Finally, how many people still have cable/satellite subscriptions???

Basically, this is just a lot of right-wing huffing and puffing. I'd actually be very interested in how many Canadian subscribers Fox actually has. I know it's included in some packages for news channels (so you get CNN, MSNBC, CBC, BBC, RT and Fox, or some sort of other grouping), but how many people pay for it a la carte?
