This is pretty debatable.
The idea that "conservatism is an intellectually valid set of principles" isn't quite as easy to defend as some might think.

That said, there are various sets of principles that have, at times, been called "conservative".
It's so much easier to be a lefty demagogue, eh?

That may be true but today's GOP resembles very few of them.
I would say that today's GOP is better described as "reactionary" than "conservative", sure.

But in general "conservative" has had a few different sets of principles and traditions. So has "liberal". These things evolve over time and usually have multiple overlapping views of what is or is not in the tradition.

Both liberalism and conservatism in politics are disastrous.
Both liberals and conservatives should be hold responsible for
our of control deficit, increasing national debt and rising carbon
emission. If you really think conservatives are as dumb as they
might be defected it is amazing the liberals won't do much
better as our leaders.

Conservatives are good people.

Reactionaries are the low IQ idiots.

Reactionaries belong to both the right and the left.

It is well documented that if you are a conservative you are likely to be white, live in a rural area, own a gun, have an IQ below 100,have no post secondary education and believe in God. Conservatives lack the ability for reasoning, do not understand humour and often lack empathy for others. Is this caused by a limited upbringing and conservative parents 'grooming' their children to become conservative, or is there a physical abnormality where the frontal lobe is inhibited from developing past the infant stage? All mentally challenged people are conservatives and relate to conservative values, but what about the rest of the conservative population that are functioning slightly above the designation of having an intellectual disability ? Is there an actual difference in the brain of conservative or is it merely indoctrinated ?
Most people across the political spectrum believe in God.

There is a difference. Conservatives who believe in God are bigots
or hypocrites. Liberals who genuinely believe in God are open-minded.
Neither of the two sides are sufficiently enlightened to have figured
out there is no God.

I am not aware of conservatives pushing for introducing school kids
to what Jesus taught about the law of God. I don't see why they would
be interested in making laws derived from Jesus's teaching.

It can't be learned behaviour. Because they sure as fuck can't learn anything at school or any place else.

They don't like abortion and some may still believe in creationism but
I am not aware of making abortion illegal and teaching creationism in
school being on the agenda of the PC Party of Canada. In the states
the evangelical segment of Christian voters are in bed with the Republicans.
But as far as I know their influence is only a shadow of its past from the days
of Pat Robertson and Jerry Falwell. Even if the Republicans win in 2024 it is
unlikely you will see abortion banned and creationism forced into elementary
school curriculum.

Society has progressed tremendously. Today's conservatives are way
more liberal than they were. If I am wrong I'd like to hear if I've missed
any significant social events organised by abortionists and creationists
in recent years in Canada.

Today's conservatives are against progress.
They are against women's rights, free choice, uncensored education, non-corporate media and anything they deem 'woke'.

They are now the party of 'fuck you'.
