It also reports everything you watch and post to the government and does its age check via facial recognition. All so they can assign you a social score and arrest you, totally sensible in every way...
You do realize that these are settings that you can control ? For sure Android (and I assume Apple). Most apps ask about access to location, camera, etc during installation but you can review access by accessing your settings - manage apps menu. Check the app and verify the permissions and change those that you don't like. On Android (probably Apple), you can get a summary of what apps have been accessing your camera, GPS location, etc.
Like Google, YouTube and many other content providers, Tic Tok tracks what services you request tp pattern your taste for both content suggestions and advertising. It is a business - I would expect that.
If people have the ability to control Tik Tok access, I have a hard time sympathizing if they just blanket 'yes' all permissions to install the app. I am more upset with Google who is now settling a lawsuit because when you hit the button 'Incognito' so that you were not monitored on your searches - in reality they were monitoring your private searches. That is more frightening to me than China watching my Tik-Tok selections.
