Not really. The bill says nothing about occupation.
...
Dan knows better.

I know in common language, I'm occupying my chair but in political terms, occupation means far more than being there.

Turkey has a formal occupation of a swathe of Northern Turkey, using their usual excuse of Kurdish dissidents (although a big part of it is to prevent more Syrian refugees from entering Turkey proper). Of course admitting to Turkey's occupation of Northern Syria (not to mention their 50 year occupation of part of Cyprus) doesn't fit Dan's world view of the US being the cause of the world's ills.

Danny, there are probably a few thousand US troops on various NATO duties in Canada. Are we occupied by the States?
We have troops "occupying" the States as well, between NORAD and USNORTHCOM in Peterson AFB and other bases, Operation GLOBE and Operation FOUNDATION.
Not to mention armed CF-18 fighter jets do intercepts in American airspace as well as the reverse.

The Webster dictionary defined occupation as
"the holding and control of an area by a foreign military force"
So by your Webster dictionary the US isn't occupying Syria.

Trump was boasting that USA is stealing the oil from Syria.
Yes, he campaigned on and repeatedly said while president he wanted to do war crimes so as to end "forever wars" and make them shorter and more profitable.

Lots of people called him a non-interventionist and thought he was less war like than the Democrats for this pro war-crime position.

You are welcome to call it something else, most people consider it an occupation of that part of Syria.
According to your choice of dictionary it isn't.

But that's not even my argument.

You said that 103 people voted in favor of "ending the occupation" even though the text doesn't say that.
You can't assume that those 103 reps believe it is "ending the occupation of Syria".

I'm sure some do, but unless you show me a reason to think they all agree with that interpretation, I will assume they have differing views on the matter.

What else can I do to please you, I already said that You are welcome to call it something else, most people consider it an occupation of that part of Syria.

Who are "most people", danmand?

Also, my objection is to you assigning that belief to the people who voted on this motion, despite having no evidence to support that.

Provide evidence if you want to say that - don't rely on a headline writer and assume that's reality.

Sure there is.
Be less sloppy with your words and your thinking.
Negative. I am not sloppy with words and their meaning. USA is occupying a part of Syria.

You refuse to call it occupation for ideological reasons. That is your problem, not mine.

OK playa.

Sure.

I'm the one who is harping on things for ideological reasons.

With 900 service persons, it's an "occupation" of a half-mile square of a large country.

Syria has large factional militias which dwarf the # of US troops in the country. And it's also a base for numerous Russian PMC's. Any argument that the US "occupies" Syria is daft.

What is the area under occupation that is not considered an occupation? ROTFLMFAO! How many square feet of Toronto the Chinese or Russian military would have to hold to consider it an occupation? Hilarious 😂

JC, the fact that the US occupies a military base in Syria does not = occupying Syria. Syria is a large country with numerous private armies, all far larger than 900 people.

At least make your attempts interesting. They're getting weaker and weaker.

The funniest thing about this thread is you not realizing the ridiculous position you occupy.

Love how Dan is liking a quote arguing that the Chinese Consulate means China is occupying Toronto.

Methinks you have enough to do with defending Israel. While we are at it, are you also denying that Michael Ben-Yair, former AG of Israel, and former acting judge on the supreme Court called Israel an Apartheid state?

Why don't you answer his point, instead of trying to deflect, Danny?

Because he's outsmarted you and you can't reply?

Sure Mandy. He outsmarted me by equating the US occupation of parts of Syria to the Chinese having a consulate in Toronto.

You are truly fucked, my dear Mandy.

You have not merely fallen for the propaganda. You feel it passionately.

So then Russia are occupying a much larger swat of Syria although currently with their reduced number of troops. They refuse to leave that country!!
Should they withdraw totally or stay there? Why no condemnation of their presence in Syria?

Because the US "occupies" Danny's mind and Russia apparently doesn't.
