The voice of many a World Series, I didn't realize that he had a 21 year playing career as well. That's pretty impressive. RIP

I find that former catchers often make good colour commentators and analysts like Tim. They see the game well. As a player I remember him most as Steve Carlton's personal catcher for the last 6 years of his carreer. He saw little playing time when Lefty wasn't pitching in those days. I was surprised to find out that he finished second in NL MVP voting in 1967 because I remember most as a platoon player who called a good game.

Was a solid .271 lifetime hitter. 2 time all-star.

But what stands out to me is he hit .478 in the 64 world series over 23 ab's . That's doing it when it counted.

Great analytical mind on the broadcasts and loved his voice.

He wasn't a big fan of Deion Sanders though........

Joe grew up across the street from Yogi Berra in St. Louis, and was considered the better prospect when they were both teenagers. Uecker needed rounding for his career batting average to be at .200.
