I don't think Don Rickles would be cancelled today, he knew how to temper his abuse. He used his tongue like a $20 whore.

Norm McDonald's film Dirty Work is bust the gut funny...at the time, not many agreed with me.

Yup Rickles' body language, tone, demeanour conveyed that he actually was not being malicious, while being funny and rude. Today comedians come under fire because their "comedy" comes across as low key rage.

No, that's not why they come under fire at all.
Thats exactly why.

These comedians who come under fire, are rarely actually funny. They are just making a political point that actually annoys them, in a cover of comedy, and the only people that laugh are the ones who share that political point of view. The opposite side is always pissed off.

Don Rickles to me, was never funny. Something genuinely unpleasant about him. George Carlin, while not being creepily unpleasant like Rickles was fucking unfunny. Although I agreed with his take on religion and golf.

MEEEEEEE!!!!

Harvey Korman was friggin great. Carol Burnett show was great. Robin Williams was good up to a point for me but got on my nerves after a while. Worked too hard or something. His sad side seemed to take over. Listened to his interview with WTF podcast and Mark Maron and he came across as a soft spoken, calm and pleasant guy.

Andrew dice clay would repulse the new crowd.....
He wasn't really funny. He was shock value. He made Ford Fairlane and they took all the cursing away, and it was a waste of screen time.

Cancel Culture would have had their hands full, if a drunk driver hadn't killed Sam Kinison in 1992. No subject matter was off limits to him; all of the targets that the current crop of comedians avoid were the prime focus of his act.
