Congrats to the Leafs for beating the Phillies. Tavares continues to score. 21 goals so far compared to 20 by Mathews. Goalie Murray did ok.

At the mid point of the season the Leafs have 57 points. Last season they finished with 115 points so basically a carbon copy The only thing a bit disappointing for me this year is our results in OT. Our record is 3-7. We've already matched last year's total OT losses. Shouldn't we be excelling 3 on 3?

I’m not really concerned about the Leafs’ 3 on 3 or shootout records as you don’t play those formats in the playoffs. The Leafs will safely hold on to 2nd or 3rd seed regardless. Some may think an extra point or two could mean home ice advantage but guess what, in each of the past 3 seasons they had the series clinching game at home but failed each time. So much for home ice advantage.

Looking at the OT records of other teams we see
Jets 7-1
TB 6-1
Vegas 8-3
Colorado 8-3
Buffalo 5-2
but then there are crap teams with good OT records
Montreal 7-3
Vancouver 6-3
Anaheim 8-4
Columbus 4-2
we also have other good teams with mediocre to bad OT records
Boston 5-4
Carolina 7-7
Dallas 3-6
Pittsburgh 2-6
NYR 4-7
Washington 3-6
There's also
Calgary 3-9
Florida 1-4
Edmonton 2-3

So in a nutshell 3 on 3 OT and shootout still looks to be a crap shoot.
Although it was baffling why Keefe used Sandin as the 4th shooter in their last shootout rather than Tavares.
It also doesn't look like Leafs put in any practice time or thought about any strategy until they were something like 1-6

Matthews is a game time decision again tonight. I doubt that he'll play. They'll rest him for Boston on Saturday. A much bigger challenge and a much more important game.

I had the TV on in the background and I think I heard "load management" mentioned by one of the talking heads (re: Mathews).

Two good back to back games by the Leaf goalies.
Boston loses their first in regulation at home to the mighty Kraken.
Leafs were set for this Saturday to be the first.
TB dismantles Vancouver with ease. Now 6 pts behind Leafs with 3 games in hand.
Sabres have now lost 3 straight. They're a streaky team.
