But it wasn’t his fault.
According to a judge in one of his previous court appearances….

It noted McKenzie experienced the negative impacts of colonialism.
“Your biological parents struggled with alcohol and were neglectful,” it said.
“You believe your adopted grandfather may have attended residential school … You have suffered abuse, experienced addiction and have been disconnected from your family and cultural community. These losses and negative experiences are likely linked to your offending.”

Double park your truck on Parliament Hill and excercise your right under the Charter of Rights and Freedoms with respect to protest and your right to self determination when it comes to your body.

That will get your ass tossed in jail and held without bail
And it will also get you labelled as a domestic terrorist for life.

Unless you're a BLM protestor, then you'll get the Order of Canada

He's native, so there is some Supreme Court Act that says that native criminals get a huge break when it comes to sentencing.

Found it:

Basically, if the perp is native, he gets off the hook for the most part.

This kid who murdered the police officer will be in a healing lodge in 3 years and back on the street in 4.
It’s a damn shame for the family of that officer but you are right. He will walk.

I’ve no faith in the criminal justice system anymore.

Do you think that 'white' leaders need to condemn every killing by a white person?
I can only speak for Terb, but whenever a right-winger goes on a shooting spree we are expected to do exactly that by the usual Lefties on this forum

This is disturbing

Give this 100 % scumbag [ the absolute worst of humanity] all the fentanyl that he needs in jail to kill himself, HOPEFULLY TONIGHT . He can probably get it in jail on his own. The fact that he was out on bail really is a disgrace to the criminal justice system.

Where did you find this? I tried looking it up and for some reason they do not state why McKenzie was released on bail.

Yep more woke bs from left-wing nuts. I am surprised at how many idiots keep on supporting Trudumb.

Again, if this "break" is used when this guy and his gf are found guilty, the native community will feel this. I've been been to six nations reserve. I have people/friends there. They're worried about this. Worried about feeling even more racism and profiling. "Them fucking Indians, all they do is drink, do drugs and sniff paint, now they're gettin' away with killin' cops!" I hear this. I'm worried for my friends because of what one idiot did. Some won't even go off the reserve because they're afraid the police (OPP) will start targeting them.

This is a no win situation for everyone.

Mods, please don't edit the quoted statement. They're very real and in no way mirrors any racism on my part. This is a very real and terrible situation. Thanks.

I may be missing something. Was the cop murdered responding to a
call for help with a ditched vehicle or something more serious? Aren't
people supposed to call a towing truck instead of police for help?

I don't think we've actually gotten a narrative from the cops or from anyone credible about what actually went down yet.
Maybe, but if so the reporting has been pretty sloppy.

If it is a small enough town, I could see a cop coming over to help someone in a ditch long before a tow truck was called.

This is a classic example of wokeness. McKenzie was released on bail because of the type of thinking you have. It is not because he is a Native that we should look the other way. One has to deal with cold hard facts, had they been tough on criminals and put this guy away for a long time, an innocent cop could have been saved. Instead Trudumb wants to ban guns and remove mandatory sentencing. Colonialism sucks and I get it, a lot of countries got subjected to it but there are ways to deal with the aftermath. Being an alcoholic and getting drunk is just an excuse, they got deep problems in their community and you cannot blame it all on colonialism. What James T Kirk posted he is 100% correct.
