It was exactly 3 years ago that travelers from China spread the virus globally to devastating effect. This time, Japan, India and some countries require all visitors from China to be tested on arrival. The US is considering a similar measure. Government of Canada is silent. As usual, they are waiting until fresh wave of infected from China has penetrated the country before acting. The time to act is now. All arrivals from China must be tested immediately

The made-in-China vaccines are based on the antiquated ineffective live virus technology. More effective mRNA vaccines like those from Moderna and Pfizer are needed but the Chinese are too proud to swallow the bitter pill and adopt these modern technologies.

So the fact the zero-covid policy was criticized meant it had to be ditched without preparation like more effective vaccination. You dont seem to be able to tell the difference. Just like the communists. Congratulations.

Covid in China: US imposes Covid testing for visitors from China

Several other countries have imposed restrictions on travellers from China as Covid cases surge.

US has imposed a negative Covid test requirement for all passengers from China. Canada still silent until we are flooded.

Italy will impose a negative Covid result as well. But before the policy comes into effect, passengers on flights arriving in Milan from China were already being tested. On one flight, which landed at the city's Malpensa Airport on 26 December, a whopping 52% of passengers were found to be positive for Covid, la Repubblica reports. 52% freaking positive. What is there to do? Covid is already here and unlike China, we have better vaccines, more sensical health care, and a population that has some immunity through a combination of vaccines and previous infections.

p.s. Canada first got covid from Italy, not China. Even if there were new, more dangerous variants in China right now, we'd at best be simply slowing things down as nothing short of a full lockdown of China's borders will have any real impact.

Not sure why countries with fragile economies and strained health systems like UK and Canada are waiting for something to happen before putting measures in place. Put the measures in place, monitor for 6 months and if it turns out that 99% of people on planes from China are Covid free then reduce the measures. Should also be mandatory that all visitors to the country bring proof of health insurance

The EU says screening of passengers from China is unjustified. So under the free travel policy of the EU, Chinese passengers can land unscreened anywhere else in Europe and travel freely to Italy unchecked. So Italy screening Chinese passengers arriving directly from China is a farce. The bureaucrats in Brussels have power over national policies. Amazing, really.

China going from a zero covid policy to a cough-freely policy overnight is a level of stupid that Trump does not even reach. It guarantees that hospitals will be overwhelmed and without medical treatment the death rate is like 10x higher and they fucked up their economy for almost 3 years to boot.
