1986 Canada made the world cup and Argentina won the world cup. 2022 Canada made the world cup and Argentina won the world cup. What soccer sorcery is this?
Repeat next time since Canada is the host?

...Who do you guys got for the Golden ball(best player of the tournament), best goalkeeper, best young player(21yrs old or younger) and best coach for this world cup?

I got Messi, Bono(Morocco), Fernandez and maybe Deschamps since he had so much things going against him . It would be interesting to see if he decides to continue with France or if Zidane will take over.
Coin toss between the Moroccan and French coaches.
I'd pick the Moroccan, considering his inexperience and the fact he'd been barely on the job for a few months.
Deschamps has done a tremendous job too, and had to improvise after seeing his team decimated,
not too many teams can reach the final and come back with 10 min left on the clock then lose on PKs while fielding their B team.

hmm maybe you are right. I mean it was the 1st time that an African team made it to the semi finals. I hope that Morocco's success will not just be a flash in the pan and hopefully they will be there in 2026. Apparently massive investment was made by the country and two Moroccan teams recently won the African version of the champions and Europa league.

Even if Morocco was a flash in the pan, success gets copied.
African teams will believe they can go just as far if not further and would probably copy the Moroccan playbook,
having many talented and experienced professionals in Europe's leagues, plus a ton of local talent
that a good coach could mold into a winning team. The future of WC is African imo, look at the French team :D

Managers of losing teams Brazil, Netherlands, Spain, Portugal have all departed. But the manager of the most talented team at the WC, Gareth Southgate, is staying. England embraces losers, which is why they havent won anything since 1966.
They arguably have the best squad depth, but not the best starting 11. Southgate only uses the depth against opposition that he’s comfortable with and so hesitant to use the it in games that really matter, like against Croatia, Italy, and France.

Slow and bungled substitutions in all of them…Rashford who was joint golden boot leader with half the minutes of Mbappe after the group stage then got benched for the rest of the tournament, and came on in the 85th minute against France, Grealish for the last 30 seconds. These players should be getting at least 20-30 minutes to make a difference.

The big debate leading up to the tournament was whether Southgate would include England’s most inform attacker Madison in the squad. He then picked Madison to shut everyone up then locked him in the hotel room for the whole tournament.

If they want to keep the manager English, then they were realistically looking at someone like Gerrard or Lampard to replace him. Maybe one of them will get a chance after the next euros.

Shaw, Maguire, Stones, Walker, Henderson, Fodden, Bellingham, Rashford, Kane, Saka. 4-3-3. This lineup with pace on both flanks would have bothered France tremendously. Instead, as you said, Rashford nowhere to be found until too late. No imagination.

Gerrard or Lampard with their old school, no imagination play. Look at their atrocious club records. Either would be a downgrade from Southgate.

Congrats to Argentina and Canada (for qualifying). I don't follow football (aka soccer). Hope that doesn't make me a bad person.

Madison was injured in that final match in the English Premier League. It is a possibility that he did not fully recover from it. I agree that he has really been a shining light this season in the Premier League.
Yes, Rashford should have started especially as he found his form in the World Cup. Southgate needs to step aside if England want to win some silverware. I think that Eddie Howe will be a much better fit than both Gerrard or Lampard.

Why does Argentina have no black players?

Argentina is a geographical outlier built on ranching not plantations, they didn't need slaves. It's also been relatively free of invasion, the British saw it as a replacement for the USA, they attempted conquest in the 1830's. They took over easily enough...then this happened.

The British had a fighting retreat, out of spite they kept The Malvinas. The 1982 war was unnecessary, The Falklands are a windswept almost barren rock, the Argies don't need it.

It was actually in the early 1800's. The British had built up a massive, highly proficient navy and used it to gobble up the colonial possessions of the continental countries that Napoleon had forced to become his allies. (Britain and France fought incessantly from 1792 to 1815.)

In 1806, the British seized Cape Town from the Netherlands. They then looked around for other places to seize and decided on Uruguay and Argentina from Spain. The problem was that Buenos Aires was already huge (by the standards of the day) with over 80,000 people. And they hated the British passionately. The Argentinians had a well developed militia system and the British army got bogged down in street fighting where its higher professional capabilities were little advantage.

The Argentinians have always resented the British owning the Falklands, which are off the Argentine coast and the Junta decided to boost its flagging popularity by seizing them - pretty much in the same way Putin hoped to boost his ratings by seizing Kiev.

Those young Argentinean players had the best times of their lives paying alongside one of the nest players in the history of soccer.

Argentina blew their lead for being loose. Di Maria did a great job, but was pulled. The French seemed they couldn't get hold of the ball the first period and then the Argentinians became cocky with their passing around and the French snapped out of it. Its like the French were holding back in the first period and then woke up. Very exciting game. Happy for Messi. Giroud was fuming when he was pulled, but he didn't do much in the field, they needed someone more active.

A bit more Argentinian history.
