Egypt are beating Belgium 1-0 right now in their last warmup match. Hopefully the Canadian team is watching this.

Even though FIFA has them ranked 2 I think Belgium is susceptible. They are not coming into this tournament close to top form. Yes Courtois is the best keeper in the world and De Bruyne is one of the best midfielders n the world but their best striker Lukaku is injured yet again and they are an aging squad, particularly in the backfield. I wouldn't be that shocked were they to be eliminated either in the group stage or in the round of 16.

Belgium are resting their first team squad. They are not that concerned if they lose, as all that matters will be their group stage games.
So Canada should take it very seriously. Trossard can be a dangerous striker in the manner in which he has been performing in the Premier League.

It looked like they had a majority of their first team in the starting lineup De Bruyne, Hazard, Batshuayi, Carrasco, Witsel, Alderweireld, Courtois, all of whom will probably start against Canada, unless Martinez opts for Trossard over Hazard on the left. I doubt that Martinez will start him as a solo striker as he likes someone big and athletic as his focal point. I know how dangerous he’s become this year, he scored a hatrick against Liverpool recently.

Martinez then threw on the rest of their first team to try and salvage the match Vertonghen, Tielemans, Meunier…

Belgium are still the heavy favourites but their shaky form should give us some hope.

Canada
Lucas Cavallini scored the winner, he's a substitute at best and he nearly ate that PK.

When it comes to grifting Sepp Blatter takes a back seat to no one. The investigations against him and Michele Platini were dropped for lack of evidence.

Johnny Harris is an investigative journalist.

Johnny Harris was raised a Mormon and had conservative views, he got married and left the Mormons to become a journalist to travel the world and has since then became more liberal, at the very least has perspective from both sides.

I would not rate Hazard, Batushuayi or Lukaku that highly. Their prime time days are over. De Bruyne is a world class player. But he did not look like himself for the first forty five minutes. Not surprising that he was pulled out at half time. Having said that, Canada can have a decent shot at Belgium, but they should not be too complacent.

Actually, I expect some of the African Nations to pull out some really surprising results this time around. The weather favours them in spite of the air conditioned stadiums. Not surprising that Egypt won, but they really put on a stelar performance. Expect Nations like Cameroon, Tunisia and Ghana to possibly do the same.

Lets see more predictions for the group stages - first and second from each group. Many of these are close calls there's a lot of parity. My picks:

Group A: Netherlands 1 and Ecuador 2 (If Mane was playing I would have taken Senegal)
Group B - England 1 and Wales 2
Group C - Argentina 1 and Mexico 2 (I am hoping for Poland though)
Group D - Denmark 1 and France 2
Group E - Germany 1 and Spain 2
Group F - Croatia 1 and Belgium 2
Group G - Brazil 1 and Serbia 2
Group H - Uruguay 1 and Portugal 2

The older Hazard is pretty much done, all he does these days is just pass the ball and jog, a far cry from what he was at Chelsea. Thorgan needs to start ahead of him. Lukaku and Michy still perform when they play for Belgium and I'm personally hoping Lukaku does not play that game as we don't have a defender that could play against him when fully fit.

Gianni Infantino, head of FIFA, speaking earlier today to begin the World Cup: “Today I feel Qatari. Today I feel Arabic. Today I feel African. Today I feel gay. Today I feel disabled. Today I feel (like) a migrant worker. Of course I am not Qatari, I am not an Arab, I am not African, I am not gay, I am not disabled. But I feel like it, because I know what it means to be discriminated, to be bullied, as a foreigner in a foreign country. As a child I was bullied – because I had red hair and freckles, plus I was Italian so imagine.”

Infantino grew up in Switzerland. He said he feels like a migrant worker. He made $3.2 million in 2019. :ROFLMAO: He who pays the piper calls the tune.

He spoke for almost an hour and a lot of what he said was cringeworthy. Based on his comments he'd have you believe that Qatar is some paradise and a bastion of freedom and human rights while Europeans are just evil hypocrites for pointing out otherwise. Normally not a defender of Europe but there is no comparison they are far more civilized than Qatar. This guy is nothing but a shill.

He's a shill, Qatar probably handed him envelopes full of cash to defend the. Comparing the things that happened in Europe in the last 3000 years is ridiculous, what happened in Qatar is current. Fifa sold themselves out.

Rich World Cup ticket holders can still drink beer, alcohol in Qatar: Report
Alcohol still available for fans in stadium hospitality boxes in Qatar

Obviously, there are two sets of regulations in Qatar at this World Cup. Guess those fans in the standard seats should be upgrading if they want to be served with some beer during the match. Only around US $600 to upgrade into a hospitality seat. Sacrifice two sessions with your favourite escort!!

Kidding, but this stinks of hypocrisy. Especially as many of those who are implementing these laws will probably be seated in the 5 start Pearl Lounges, all paid for by the wealth generated by these games. They will no doubt be secretly gulping all the Premier brands of alcohol!!
