bbl why so crabby on an occasion where you should be happy and gay. Once the baseball season ends there's an entire winter of unrelenting misery with the Loafs ahead. Then you can indulge yourself.

I've developed greater respect for Hazel.

Atkins and Shapiro get a lot of grief in this thread for the way Ryu and Kikuchi have cratered, but shouldn’t they also get credit for trading for Ross Stripling and signing Kevin Gausman? The trade for Bass and Pop looks like a good one too. Merrifield is starting to put it together as well. Let’s not forget that Hernandez, Espinal and Chapman were acquired as well. All in all, a commendable job by the front office.

Totally agree - I think we (including me) chirp at them because there was no reason to give them those contracts especially when they didn't prove anything - of course it was a risk and the risk failed, but why take that risk when you didn't need.

OK, IV.

How many points for the Leafs this year?

Will they make the playoffs?

If so, will they make it past the 1st round?

Shack discussing Loafs on a Jays thread is brutta figura, I'm not going there. I'm more concerned that Teoscar isn't being showered with rose petals when he hits a dinger.

I wonder what The Mightiest of all Broadcasters was saying to Jays Nona? Arden got it wrong, Bo is 24, Valdy is 23.

M's and Rays both lose. Rays cannot catch Jays now and Jays magic # to clinch home field for Round #1 is 2 games over M's.

I realised after I posted that it was the Jays thread. Apologies for my indiscretion. However, you referenced the Leafs before I did. I'm sure that we can pick this up in the appropriate place and time later on.

I wouldn't say I'm being crabby. It was such a staged celebration so it just seemed dumb. I like organic celebrations.

There is rain in the forecast in Baltimore for tonight and tomorrow, hypothetical: If both games are rained out and the Mariners lose the first 2 games against the Tigers, Jays would take first WC position, would the 3 games between Jays and Os have to be played?

Would be nice if the final two games get rained out. It'll give the boys a rest and the pitchers arms will be fresh for the playoffs.

They're used to playing every day. 3 days off might throw off their rhythm and they're in a pretty good groove right now.

I think the Thursday off is good enough.

Even though the Jays have clinched home game in the wild card round there would be some benefit to playing if it gave Espinal and Gurriel a chance to play to see if they've recovered from injuries. I agree with Buck and Pat that they should only be on post season roster if they are able to field, hit and run the bases, not just pinch hit. Both are likeable players who made important contributions but Tapia and Merrifield are playing well. Merrifield will likely continue to start at 2nd no matter what as long as he remains hot. Espinal's loss is huge since he can also play short and 3rd. No other decent backups for these positions with proven MLB experience except Biggio just ok at 3rd.

I’m sure MLB will give the Jays-Mariners games this weekend the least desirable time slot, whatever they think that is. So Friday they’ll definitely play in the afternoon, maybe the earliest time. Good luck watching if you’re at work.

Jays-M's would probably outdraw Guardians/Rays. What are the NL matchups?

I heard somewhere that MLB wants all playoff games to start at the same time, for eg. west coast games at 1:30pm and midwest and east coast games to start at 4:30pm or something to that effect.
