There are whales on this board who take ladies to these places.I love to eat, but I'd never spend $680 on a meal.
I managed to get a booking at Alo next month and I'm really looking forward to it.It's good to see after 2 years of lockdowns some restaurants are making a comeback even though at inflated prices, there are people who are willing to pay these prices. Alo on Spadina is fully booked most nights, they take online reservations.
I wouldn't live like this on a regular basis, but I'm in the third act of a three act play and I'm looking for experiences. I had a chance to go to the top rated restaurant in the world a few years ago. 11 very small courses was just the right amount of food. A "whale" might have been hungry after. I went for the experience. I had never experienced a 5 star restaurant. I didn't love every course, but nothing was bad and each dish was highly creative. On top of that, our server was devoted only to my partner and me. She and I were both blown away by the exquisite level of service, plus it was the highest rated restaurant in the world at the time. I can now scratch that off the bucket list.I love to eat, but I'd never spend $680 on a meal.

This is where I went:My bucket list includes dining at a Michelin Star place.
I've been to Alo twice, and I've been to French Laundry (3 Michelin Stars) a few times. Neither of them is anywhere near $680 for a meal (excluding drinks). It's good to see after 2 years of lockdowns some restaurants are making a comeback even though at inflated prices, there are people who are willing to pay these prices. Alo on Spadina is fully booked most nights, they take online reservations.

FWIW, a "whale" is a rich sucker, he doesn't necessarily have a big stomachI wouldn't live like this on a regular basis, but I'm in the third act of a three act play and I'm looking for experiences. The only way to go is on an expense accountIt’s an amazing experience eating high end with a group of friends. Every dish served with a story and paired with perfect wine.
You’d have to be a foodie to appreciate it and it’s best done on the company expense account
Different things excite different people. Just on this board you can see how many guys have such varied tastes in women. It's tough to criticize somebody for their tastes.I don't understand how you "have an experience" at a restaurant?
Swimming with sharks or manta rays, that's an experience. Something that gets your heart beating. Where you look back and people say " wow, that's so cool. What was it like?" How do you get that from a over priced meal?
I don't see it as a criticism. Its personal opinion.Different things excite different people. Just on this board you can see how many guys have such varied tastes in women. It's tough to criticize somebody for their tastes.
