Talking to my buddy last night who is friends with a mechanic in the Russian military.
He was talking to his friend on some app called Pingle messenger, never heard of it before but they figured out how to communicate through restrictions with it.
Apparently before he left his base near Moscow they were converting civillian pickups they had taken from citizens to improvised artillery vehicles.
Once at his new posting at Valuyki in July he was tasked with repairing immobilized and damaged equipment.
Basically they have no new parts and have to manufacture or scavenge what they can from donor vehicles, something like they had to do in Somalia.
They were pretty much just making the units movable and able to fire but electronic and radio systems for jamming, radar lock alarms and fire contol are not being repaired due to lack of parts, so as long as the optics allow the gunner to manually target they are good to go.
He also said he believes the lack of radio communication is the reason the Russians are having so many friendly fire incidents.
When he was asked about drones he was saying that many of the mobile jamming units the Russians use are tuned to known Nato drone frequencies, this would explain why the switchblade drones the US supplied were not a factor but civilian models of drones are able to hover and drop bomblettes on the drone jammers themselves.
Apparently they are also having problems with contaminated fuel since from what he said was that 6 out of 10 undamaged units have plugged fuel filters, water in the fuel tanks and some have even had up to 6 inches of dirt in the bottom of the fuel tanks.
Commanders were complaining it was taking them too long to repair the equipment that far from the front and transfered his entire unit closer to the front.
Apparently they are running short of barrels for the artillery pieces and have 23 artillery peices sitting at the base waiting for new barrels.
He is now posted in the Luhansk Oblast at a base near Lotcove or something like that and said that it is like hell there with Ukrainian shelling the base frequently but away from the repair end of the base, so he said there was some relief in that.
He is supposed to get back in contact with him Monday night, anyone have any questions I can forward. ,
Was talking with my friend last night and he said he has been unable to get in touch with his mechanic friend.
He mentioned that this was uncharacteristic for him to miss a call and not reach out.
I started looking into any news from his last known area in Luhansk Oblast and got the correct spelling from a map I found it is not Lotcove it is Lotykove.
Stumbled across this.
They say 50 Russians died in the attack.
Also found an article with a link to an apparent video.

Tough news.
I'd say let your friend know.

Wars are stupid and evil, I'm sure most people really don't want to be there on both sides.
Hopefully this one ends before there are too many more deaths.
Sorry for your friends loss, even if he was Russian.

Fuck Putin.

Funny from a guy who blamed a Canadian family because Hamas blew their kid up on a beach and is currently justifying Russia's indiscriminate strikes.

p.s. What exactly does your diversion have to do with your belief that Russia should be allowed to determine Ukraine's international relations?
This war has little to do with Ukraine other then they have been assigned the task of doing the bulk of the dying.

Yeah Mandrill, anyone who trains with another country is in a formal military alliance with them.
That's why Russia is a part of NATO.

Wait...

Any country that is in the NATO-Partnership for Peace program is actually in a formal military alliance with NATO.
That's why Russia is a part of NATO.

Wait...
Russia did try and partner with NATO, but that went pear shaped.

I hate to stoop to the level of a spelling Nazi but I can’t resist when some blowhard who can’t spell stall or ocean calls anyone stupid.

Time will tell, again.

Russia already defeated itself the day they launched this delusional wet dream of an increasingly irrelevant, impotent and scared strongman Dictator of bully pussies.

The Russians destroyed their their country and future many times due to their grandiose, false, sense of superiority. It wasn’t 30 years ago that the Soviet Union collapsed under the same delusional attempt to be militarily superior to the evil West.

My two-bits (=3.24 billion Rubles!) is on Russia continuing to jack themselves off to their gratuitous violence and blowing their load all over themselves…again.

While the west trickles in Viagra to keep Ukraine fucking Russia in the ass for as long as it takes for the Russians to drown under their own jizz of inhumane malfeasance.

All the while marks like you and the other Russkie Rimmers keep the Russkies hard by your fantasizing that they are virile cocksmen instead of the vodka-swilling rapists they are.

It sickens me and any other human with a scintilla of respect for humanity.
So just to clarify something to your higher intelect since as a member of the master race you are unable to comprehend that when shooting shiton on terb, while taking a dump, usually one is not concerned about spelling anything correct, especially if you are fluent in 4 different languages and 3 alphabets LoL.

So one more time just to reitterate with my shity spelling, Russians are utterly destroying the Ukranian army, while uaing less than 10% of their active army.

It is quite unfortunate that the Ukis have dragged themselves in to this, and even more unfortunate that they idolise the Nazisam, same as the poles and Croatians, and are teaxhing their children how to be evila and hatefull of their brothers and neghbours.

6 months into this war and they have about 4% more of the country than they started with and you think any day now they will bring in the real army?
Hilarious.

I doubt they will be bringing in the real army, since there is no need for it, they will just continue with resting and rotating existing troops, while the UkroNazis will just freeze to death in a few months, the winter is Coming lol.

Oh, so Putin didn't care about Ukraine's political situation at all then?
Since it had "little to do with Ukraine"?

Russia did try and partner with NATO, but that went pear shaped.
And isn't that an interesting historical story.

Russia was only interested in Ukraines political situation insofar that it was being used by NATO to confront and threaten Russia. If they agreed to remain neutral and non-NATO they would not have attacked

Your posts are typical, laughable, Russian post-facto revisionist bullshit.

Russia acts, and continues to act like a deeply paranoid, butt-hurt bully with Aspergers. No clue or empathy of humanity except for academic study for the purpose of learning how to lie for purposes of control.

And when they actually pick on someone who is brave enough to fight back.... they flail and smash themselves in the face, knock everything over in the room and then cry to the Principal that little Volodomyr hit them back ... so NO FAIR! :ROFLMAO:

This war has yet again exposed that the ingrained Russian pre-frontal cortex bordering on lizard-brain cannot be changed by anything other than repetitive Russkie disinformation against objective reality. So this post is not directed at Nottyboi, crystal, oil and gas, six pak and other military analysts who also type from the porcelain throne in their office. It is directed at those who might somehow fall for this classic Soviet -era propaganda.

This war is founded in the deep Russian hatred and envy of.... anything that does not "respect" the false bravado of the absolute power of Mother Russia. In this case, the insolent "I need ammunition, not a ride", I Zelensky

Russia's best security against the perceived NATO threat would be to stop being a threatening asshole.

The Russian "Firehose of Falsehood" Propaganda Model
Why It Might Work and Options to Counter It

Here are some paragraphs to give you an idea of what the full paper discusses. The paper is not that long as is quite a interesting insight into how we are so easily, and predictably led astray.

"In some ways, the current Russian approach to propaganda builds on Soviet Cold War–era techniques, with an emphasis on obfuscation and on getting targets to act in the interests of the propagandist without realizing that they have done so.1

Distinctive Features of the Contemporary Model for Russian Propaganda
  1. High-volume and multichannel
  2. Rapid, continuous, and repetitive
  3. Lacks commitment to objective reality
  4. Lacks commitment to consistency.
We characterize the contemporary Russian model for propaganda as “the firehose of falsehood” because of two of its distinctive features: high numbers of channels and messages and a shameless willingness to disseminate partial truths or outright fictions. In the words of one observer, “[N]ew Russian propaganda entertains, confuses and overwhelms the audience.”2

If they agreed to let Russia dictate their foreign policy, they would not have been attacked, you mean.

Same with Chechyna.
Totally NATO's fault.

And NATO is totally to blame for the people's revolt in 2014 that lead to the first separatist/Russian battles.
Always its NATO.

Poor Vlad, doing his best to rebuild the old empire and stupid NATO not allowing people the free choice to admit they are Russian.

A reasonable and good analysis of the fighting so far.

Who is their "real" army? Convicts released to serve? Old folks who were soldiers in the 90's?

But the Russian army has been quite successful this week in advancing back towards the Russian border.
