They can't even blame ranked choice voting, though, since Palin finished second on the first round ballots. (Ranked choice cut the lead about in half though, so Palin gained quite a bit of ground from the system.)
I bumped into some folks from Alaska shortly after she was named McCain's running mate in 2008. They HATED her, called her a joke, and said most Alaskans were embarrassed by her. And this was before she said she could see Russia from her porch (which, in fairness, was an exaggeration)...
Our Congressional district, gerrymandered from Lewiston to Watertown, has a denier as Repug candidate. It's supposed to be a "safe" Repug district (overwhelmingly rural), but I'm not so sure anymore...
