The OP has tremendous form in the exercises he shows in this thread.

It's not how much you can lift but how you lift it. Saves your joints excess wear and tear plus reduces the chances of injury as well.

Eons ago I used to train 3 days on 1 day off. Hitting each body part twice a week. About 2 hrs a workout. High carbs was they way we were told to go.

Can't tell you how much brown rice and pasta I've eaten in my life, lol. We regularly consumed these Carbo Power drinks after a training session.

The drinks were comprised of maltodextrin. So in this case corn syrup. Man you couldn't eat worse if you tried looking back on it.

And tuna. Used to buy it in bulk. A case at a time. That's a lot of mercury. Tested off the charts years latter. No wonder.

So I massively over trained and ate terribly, lol. But that was the mantra.

That's what the comic books or shall I say muscle magazines espoused so that's what we did. Then there was the Weider Training Principles......

Today we know different. Nutrition is for most people about 70% of the game. The main thing is to not over train. The days of the two hour workouts are over. Once your adrenals start flooding your system with cortisol you are in a catabolic state. And that ain't good.

Everybody will respond different to training There's no sure fire way that is universal. It's all trial and error. My favourite lift was deadlifts. Used to hit the old Monster Gym off Ronson at 3 in the morning for a session with a buddy of mine. Was one of the first gyms that was open 24 hours. Good times. Didn't give much thought to circadian rhythms in those days, lol. Oh and the dumbells went up to 200lb's at Monster.Saw A guy doing overhead dumbell presses with the 160's once. He had two guys hand them to him with much difficulty I might add. Neck harnesses were a thing then as well. My friends and I were all trying to get that 20 inch neck......Never heard of sleep apnea till much later.

Thank You. The older I got the more I realized its extremely important to leave your ego at the door and focus on form.

Time under Tension has been working great as well.

I speed walk the Humber Trail five times a week, it look ridiculous yet far more effective than running. I do it to not get one of my feet amputated from diabetes. I'm currently at 255 lbs but I have no side fat.

The endocrinologist recommended I go back to New Balance but Sketchers last longer.

What is the average speed for your speed walk?
I haven't actually measured it, I'm focused on lowering my blood sugar. It also depends on what sections of the McMichael hill I'm taking. Being a decrepit old fart, who smoked for most of his life, I've completed the steepest section maybe a dozen times without stopping to catch my breath. I had a Nutri Bar for breakfast my blood sugar went to 10.4 (7 is normal on the high end) I measured again after my walk it was at 5.8 (5 is normal on the low end). If I don't eat something sugary before the walk then I'll get dizzy from blood sugar loss.

When the weather is good, I don't go to the gym. When I do, there's a torture device that I'll use...a necessary evil.

Very nice!! Why is it hilarious the noises or the faces?

I didn’t notice his face lol. Yes, both. It is like watching a adolescent in his home gym 😂

At least it‘s not as bad as this.

The guy you posted, his push ups are ok.

So your sets are over a minute consistently in duration I see.

I was wondering how much time you take in between sets and how many sets do you do per body part?

And of course the length of each session?
I pyramid up to my weight where I am about to go all out in between the 2nd to last set and final I wait about 5 minutes.

My workouts are about an hour and 20 long but I am only working out twice a week

Can I see your routine? I just want to understand what you are doing.

Edit: Silly question, 🙋‍♂️ Mike Mentzer.

So your first few sets you just warming up and then you do two working sets to failure.

5 minutes in between is long considering you are not for you lifting heavy. And I say this because with your time under tension of over a minute. That isn't a heavy weight for you.

Power lifters take long breaks in between sets to give their CNS time to recover. But they're lifting heavy weights for low reps when they do this. Of course they also do speed work with weights that are below 50% of their max and take very little time in between sets. Louie Simmons lives!

It isnt a heavy weight for me? Wouldn't you first ask how much I weigh first?

I don't expect others to do this, it looks ridiculous and you might get mocked...dogs may even piss on your leg. I'm just an I don't give a shit type of guy.

Some folks who weigh less than I do have generous spare tires.
