This is not the FBI doing it on a whim. They have to have probable cause. They have to convince a prosecutor. The prosecutor has to sign off. Then so does the FBI supervisor (maybe even Trump appointed FBI director Wray signed off on this). Then they take it before a judge. A judge has to agree probable cause of a crime. Only then does the warrant get issued.
This deliberately misleading statements coming from Republicans are despicable. Some nitwit is going to kill someone because these idiot miseducators are out there. Kevin Mccarthy issuing his bully boy statement telling merrick garland to preserve his docs...when he won't support Trump preserving his docs or honouring subpeonas? That is insane double standard. Trump likening this to Watergate? Fuck. If you can't tell this difference between something obtained through a legal process and something illegal conducted by hired thugs you're a moron.
It's unprecedented because there has never been a USA president who would do this shit.
You either believe in the rule of law or you don't. None of these revenge nitwits knows what's in the warrant. Neither do I. But I know the process by which you need to get one. And its not coming from Biden, or merrick garland, but the agents working the case. Not illegal thugs hired by biden (like what Nixon did).
But somehow negotiating the return of documents that are either classified or belonging to the USA, rather than turning them over immediately then negotiating for return, means your ass belongs in jail. Full stop.
Trump knew the day was coming. Thus he framed this warrant incorrectly to make himself look like a martyr, and he hopes his brownshirts will rise up to protect him. He's been using those threats of thuggery if he gets indicted all along. And many Rs are helping because they're dirty from voting to not certify, after meeting with Trump in December 2020.
"OH this can happen to anyone!! Police state!! Defund the FBI!!" Fuck them. It can happen to you if you ignore subpoenas and keep classified or other government documents in your home or business.
