I believe you have to release them out in the country many kilometers from home, to prevent them from returning to you.As long as you release them humanely, it's okay. I beleive killing them will land you in jail, rightfully so. Some Asian guy whacked a bunch of racoons on the head to kill them. He was lucky he wasn't jailed. https://www.thestar.com/news/crime/...h_shovel_pleads_guilty_to_animal_cruelty.html
They are easy to catch. Use peanut butter.I believe you have to release them out in the country many kilometers from home, to prevent them from returning to you.
I am not saying you did something wrong, but it is actually not legal. It is practically a death sentence to bring a raccoon to an area outside of their range.I used a trap and caught about 10 of them.
Bait was chicken wings.
I drove about 15 kilometers away and released them all in the forest.

It actually worked out for the best and one of them went on to star in a major film feature.I am not saying you did something wrong, but it is actually not legal. It is practically a death sentence to bring a raccoon to an area outside of their range.

All over his garden, that guy was mentally unstable. I'll just leave it at that, I would love to say more about him.As long as you release them humanely, it's okay. Thanks for the post. I come from a family of hunters in the US. I'd shoot them without hesitation and wrap them up for garbage day being truly be oblivious to the potential repercussions. As long as you release them humanely, it's okay.
