My understanding is that said ''slush fund'' was created after fallout of the Graham James fiasco.

HC's legal team determined that funds should be set aside in the event of any past or future transgressions came to light. And the resultant lawsuits that would come.

So they weren't caught flat footed again. It makes sense when you think of it.
The only "solution" is to engage a chaperon to follow every player 24/7.

Do you think a condom was used?
I haven't a clue. It only matters if she told the guy(s) to wear one and they refused or removed it while having sex with her. Since there was no trial, we don't know all the details. I would however like to know more about this case and if she was in fact sexually assaulted. Did she consent? Was she forced to do things against her will? I understand why Hockey Canada wanted to make this go away. They took the path of least resistance. It's not a good look even if everything was consensual. OTOH, sex sells and the media is loving this story.

In my experience and working in/for Fortune 500 companies. There is next to no chance that Hockey Canada will receive any future funding from companies like Scotia Bank.

On a side note - there is likely more skeletons in the closet..

Lack of funding will also affect women's hockey. Maybe they'll create their own org with separate funding. The problem is that women's hockey doesn't attract nearly as large an audience as men's hockey. Same with women's tennis, soccer, etc.

Corporate funding is directly related to how large an audience the sport draws.

The next move has to be to fire CEO and others. Then bring on Board some women and some diversity. The whitest game on earth needs to change.

Oh no no no... They're the best suited and most capable of changing the path of Hockey Canada. Just ask them! :ROFLMAO:

Apparently, the IIHF now wants to get involve. I suggest they start by investigating the Russian team.

The IIFH should investigate every team that participated in the 2018 and 2013 tournaments. I refuse to believe that Canadians were the only bad boys.

Were all the teams in London when the 2018 incident occurred?

I don't see how that changes anything. As others have mentioned, most corporations and associations follow the same practices with reserve funds, etc and they are more likely to be diverse. More importantly, that's not going to change hockey being a mostly white sport in a mostly white country, and even if I did, non white teenage boys high on themselves aren't much different from white teenage boys high on themselves. In fact many diverse players will have come from even more conservative cultures with worse regard for women than here. They probably will axe the current management to show they've done something, but the facts on the ground aren't changing. What could change is if the lack of funding becomes permanent and kills Canada participating in the world juniors. Then we lose the tradition of cheering for the team after Christmas and the tournament becomes a joke without us.

Re the 2018 fiasco, it's possible that it's a case of seeking money, but the fact that the guys made a point of recording post sex consent, and very lame statements at that, then made her shower after, suggest a habit of this behaviour that is concerning. Also odd that there isn't more time on these videos, just two twenty second excerpts that end abruptly. You have to wonder what we're not seeing. And the videos don't prove consent. They're amateurish attempts to do so, and if obtained under duress, say from the presence of 8 large men who engage in violence as part of their job, mean zero. They are weak evidence that a half decent criminal lawyer should have a field day with.

The 2003 fiasco is clearly damning to anyone in that room. There's no gray area to shield the players. This will get ugly.

In short it's all a mess and eventually the NHL is going to have to step in as this impacts them huge.

I am assuming the IIFH has international jurisdiction so they should have the ability to investigate any team and any activities anywhere. I refuse to believe that some players on the Canadian junior team were the only ones who misbehaved.
