ROTFLMFAO!!!! Always crosscheck your information because ALL news outlets come with a built in bias. Fortunately, in the age of internet, it's easier than ever to weed out problematic stories. The problem are the lazy news consumers who rarely go beyond the headline.
Each opinion based news source tells their readers, listeners or viewers what they want to read, see and hear.

They are just not covering it. Not surprised since these networks lean left. You explain to me why a Ukrainian oil company would hire a junkie who knows nothing about oil onto their board unless he was the vice presidents son at the time. Had this been one of Trump's kids. It would be all over the news.
So.....here's a few things about corporate boards. Not everyone on there is an expert in the company's main business. You want a diversity of experiences to help create strategy. Sure, you'll have your engineers and geologists to help with the exploration side of things, accountants and actuaries for the finances, people with experience in other facets of the business world. In Hunter's case, it would probably be for his connections — which again, isn't illegal. Was it widely known of Hunter's substance abuse issues at this time? Probably not. And, at the time, Biden was VP, a position historically known for its lack of power or influence (for the most part). So, it wasn't a big deal. I mean, why didn't Fox lose their shit about this back then?
Now, let's look at the Trump kids. Firstly, nobody tapped them on the shoulder to be a board member for any company outside the Trump organization. Not before Donald was President, and they probably wouldn't do it now. Why? Well, if it was a publicly traded company you wouldn't want the negative press, or the well documented cases of maleficence for things like the Trump charity.
Now, as for the media covering or not covering Hunter....Isn't it convenient that this stuff leaks out it dribs and drabs when there is major, damning news of Trump? Also, how did the Daily Fail get this iPhone and voicemail? And its a message from three years ago? And the part we're hearing could certainly be manipulated or taken out of context. Sure Fucker Carlson wants it to be a smoking gun, but we don't know anything really.
As for why the media may not have covered it....Well, it is called the Daily Fail for a reason. MSM do not take news direction from the right-wing outrage media. There are also many reasons why they didn't touch this, chiefly because they could not verify the voicemail. And, as I've mentioned before, there are only so many minutes in a newscast, so they probably had more important news to cover that night. Like Red States banning abortions, abortion protests, the war in Ukraine, the 20+ dead in the South African pub, Russia's default on debts, the Stanley Cup victory plus other things. They likely didn't want to waste time on a story that really has no legs outside of the right-wing fever swamp that is so focused on corruption with Biden that they ignore Ivanka and Jared making hundreds of millions during their time in the White House, or the fact that Donald tried to violently overthrow the government.....
